Point of View.
Take duronto. it has 9 AC3 coaches...all CST to HWH... no quotas.....more chances of confirmation....
Whereas Gitanjali.... 2 AC3 coaches.... of which many would be tatkal and quotas.... so less chance

Albeit you lost me there - am not up to speed on Railway technology to comprehend ICF and LHB. If you could enlighten/elucidate, would be much obliged.

Finally booked 3AC, but current status is WL4. My earlier attempt at booking a then RAC54 status ticket was botched - don't know how IRCTC website works. My card account was charged and the ticket details aren't reflecting anywhere. Aren't they supposed to process a refund/reversal for this?

Under booked history tab after logging,go to failed transactions Page and follow the status .Normally,amount debited( but ticket not issued) will be credited back in 3 or 4 days to your account.
