Got shunted on Platform some 5 minutes before departure time.
Low Platform height at Ara is truly a grave concern. It's highly dangerous especially with luggage and rush.
ECR is truly pathetic at maintainence of it's stations.

The room in the lounge seems small though I am comparing it to the rather spacious double retiring room I last used at Guwahati :p. Also, off topic, but did anyone know that Gwalior has a 'Maharaja' class retiring room option as well? Their double bed retiring room is slightly expensive than other stations and I assume Maharaja version would match hotel prices easily.

It's not a private room per say, it's kind of a private partition in a big room, I was standing near curtain. There's only one AC being used to cool entire room and even that becomes useless once you use the curtains for basic privacy.
Only passed through Gwalior on different trains, never actually stayed there. So no idea about Maharaja Room

Platforms 2 & 3 are totally low, you'd end up using entirety of stairs of train. Your hands would've to be free in order climb up there, you cannot carry anything in your hand while climbing up.
I had purchased some Water Bottles for one Aunty traveling in the Lower Berth in front of me. I had to place them on walkway near doors before climbing.

I have a night stay in Gwalior's retiring room in December. Just wish to see how many Maharaja suites are there. Probably exist due to foreign tourist footfall there.
I always thought Ara was a decent station. With 150+ halting trains, coach indicators and Railwire Wifi [as indicated here on IRI], I am surprised something as basic as platforms are not catered to.
