Lowest Utilized Main lines
Pune-Miraj (only 6 daily express trains and few Non-daily trains run on this route)
Miraj-Latur (one daily express train and 2 passenger trains are announced after gauge conversion completion in April 2010)

ideally they could move one or two trains. The problems could be
1) single line track capable of handling average speeds. (Londa - pune)
2) pune junction bottle neck (though PVR route will soon be open and trains cud get diverted via there to avoid pune - but that does not help pune miraj sector)

i think some of tour explainations are reasonable;
1-but the KR with all its hype comes unstuck in monsoons;and it is this parallel line which bails it out;
2-doubling is going on on some sectors between londa and bangalore-will eventually extend to pune-so speeds and capacity should improve;
3-engine reversals should not be major deterrents for running trains-if done efficiently shuoldn't take more than...
