History of Mandovi Express
This train started by Mr. Nitish Kumar (Rail Minister in 1999) as Mumbai CST Madgaon Intercity. It used to run on the TT of JS. After 2001 Mumbai CST Madgaon Intercity train has been converted in Express train in monsoon by giving more coach and halts. In monsoon by seing the high priority of this express train, they didnt changed it again in Intercity and it renamed as Mandovi Express after the name of longest river in Goa. Its TT has now given to JS. Till now this train is running as Express. Its old loco link was WDM 3a/d of ED/KYN and after getting RSA with Konkan Kanya, both were given WDP4 of Krishnarajapuram(Now WDP4b of KJM)....

earlier KR had planned a train that would reach MAO from ROHA in around 3.5 to 4 hrs.....sadly it did not materialise
It will never materialize. I got a reply from KR to this question.... The plan has since been abandoned. I will post the grievance reply later on...
Earlier MAO JNS used to reach MAO by 1 pm when KR was started. Also food was supplied onboard. Now everything has since been withdrawn n the train is slowed down by 1 pm.
