if the waiting list ticket doesn't get confirmed. Do we still need to cancel the ticket for the refund before the chart prepared for that train. Pls clarify my doubt.
yes, u need to cancel e-ticket before chart preparation for refund, if it is in waiting.
If the chart is prepared, ticket is not confirmed still remaining in waiting then u dn't need 2 cancel it, because it automatically gets cancelled as per the r & r of IRCTC.

For example, if i cancel the WL ticket before the chart prepared or after chart preparation, the ticket will get cancelled automatically and amount is refunded back. Will there any change in the refund amount that is cancelling after / before chart preparation.
sir, WL e-tickets automatically stands cancelled if not cleared at charting...you will get full re-fund (baring IRCTC and gateway charges) thereafter to ur bank account.
If ticket has been taken from a prs counter, and remains at wl at charting, then all u can do is file a TDR , after 24 hrs of train dep) if u didn't travel on that ticket
If u travel on that ticket...no question of any refund...except if ur class is AC...(u will be shifted to be accomodated in SL and will be paid the difference...
