Rohan Diarsa 157 blog postsJanshatabdi returns after a halt of just 20 mins. Why has this been given such a long halt? I understand being a Shatabdi class train it will be cleaned but how much time is needed for cleaning just 8 coaches. Also it can reach earlier if done so.

Then too, it took 1:55, means not free to let passenger board after 45 mins of arrival & further 15 mins for passenger on-board,,,around 1 hrs!!

No you got it wrong. I never meant 20 mins like JS. I said in my 1st post that it needs time for cleaning. So lets say 1 hour for passengers getting off, cleaning, pantry items uploading and passengers boarding would be enough. Then it can depart 15 mins before its present departure.
U didn mentioned the time span earlier,,just compared 20 mins TAT with JS!!
My only worry is people might not prefer this train as its arrival in Mumbai is very late. It should reach CST at most by 11.30. I am putting myself in a travellers shoes and suggesting this. Make it depart 15mins early from Karmali, speed it up a bit as its taking 40 mins more in its return journey, then the 11.30 arrival mark can be achieved.
Its just a SPL!! TT drafted as such not to disturb regular running JS & other trains & definitely will give pass, in case crossing situation arises (pass not OT)!! JS is always delayed in departing MAO & 15:20 is perfect DEP for Shatabdi, after reular running JS would have crossed Karmali (& will not have to suffer disturbance afterwards coz of this SPL)!!
Further, its not just for CSTM but PNVL etc too offer as connectivity option & ARR there is quite reasonable!! If people cant prefer train as option, when they dont have any ticket provision in other train, then this train will always be in issue!!
