Hi, could anyone tell me why all south bound trains, including Udyan express, have diesel locos between Mumbai and Pune, when electrification is available?
Diesel doesn't come anywhere close to electric as far as riding comfort and speed is concerned. Plus, I would assume there are environmental considerations with the ghats.
I see north-bound trains running on electric locos though. Is there a reason?

1:- to avoid loco change at Pune.
2:- Diesel's are better n alternative for such trains.
3:- 190 km with and Diesel, not an issue. once the rest of section is energized with Electric, Diesel wil vanquish.
