The Hirakand Express derailed in Andhra Pradesh earlier this year, killing 40, while the Rajendranagar-Patna Express incident caused the death of almost 150 people last year. While Mohammad Jamshed, member of the Traffic Railway Board last January said that the instances of accidents caused by railways have reduced by up to 20 per cent in India, why is it that large scale accidents still take place in India. To counter this question, it appears like Railway will be deploying drones or unmanned aerial vehicles to capture visuals of accident sites in order to collect evidence.

For the people who are new to Mysore and bound to L&T or Infosys , Kindly board the bus number 116 and 119 , both are available in plenty (AC as well as normal fare). Infosys will be the Penultimate halt of that route.
The bus stop lies just opposite to the Main entrance.

The Ministry of Railways has announced the scaling up of a new reservation system called 'Vikalp', or alternate train accommodation scheme (ATAS), from April 1, 2017. Under the Vikalp scheme, wait-listed passengers can avail the opportunity of travelling in Rajdhani, Shatabdi or other premium/special trains even if they have booked tickets in other mail/express trains for the same destinations - at no extra cost. The Vikalp scheme aims to utilise vacant berths in many premier trains in all major routes.

Yes, trains in southern TN are empty to some extent due to very vast network of buses throughout day and night. Madurai has arguably the best and most buses in entire country as per my observation. Hence the moniker - city that never sleeps :)

5 intermediate stations are there. They should try crossing. Mishap like DSP sir says is possible but should try it out. Throw caution to the wind for the larger benefits to people. Don't Northern zones take risks with so many trains plying one behind another on super-saturated routes?

Everything Drama is of RSA... Even if Passenger is diverted to MAJN, I think it has to go back at MAQ for Maintainence (Mostly MAQ based Rack). People from smaller stations will blame as MAJN, there are less facilities. like transport etc.

Forget passenger trains, even freights are not being routed much through the Shiradi route! SWR had rationalized the HAS-MAQ route for freight operations from the iron ore mines around Bellary ( Ranajitpura and Yeshwantnagar) to Panambur port and KIOCL to attract more traffic as the shortest route from BAY to MAQ is via ASK. However, citing ghat constraints, they are running the freights via the Braganza and Konkan route. Effectively they are charging the mining companies for the short route, but running the trains via the longer route for almost 200km more losing a lot of revenue. It's surprising that they are not developing the route even for increasing their freight revenues, let alone improving passenger transport!

Reasons given by PGT division are absolute rubbish. If they cant find a slot for Kudla then they dont deserve to keep hold of MAQ and can hand it over to SWR. Demand between MAQ and SBC is very high that Karwar-SBC runs packed from MAQ- one can witness the huge rush for UR seats at MAQ Platform. Some might say that demand for another train is not there but if thats the case why there are 100s of buses between MAQ and SBC? If more trains are introduced, then a lot of bus pax are going to migrate to train travel.

Also, he requested the minister to accord early approval to the estimates prepared for the construction of Railway Over Bridge across the Third Railway Gate (Level Crossing No.381) in Tilakwadi in Belagavi city.

As of now , unless more pit lines are planned in SWR jurisdiction , its very tough for intra KA state trains to see the light.
IMHO, Shimoga town, Bijapur, Belgavi should get 2 pit lines of 26 coaches ASAP.

But they can operate like Basava. Bagalkot has no pitline but MYS maintains it.
So BGM too they can operate with YPR as PM. And that new day train MYS-SBC-UBL can be upto BGM with PM at MYS. It's just bus operators considerations which is stopping them.
Wonder if Bidar pitline is ready? If so atleast SCR can operate a train to YPR via GR, when new line opens.

in fact we can use our queen's rake ,
They can create a RSA between RC and a new ONT between SBC to BGM ( should have Timetable like Janshatabdi IMO) , this can be like MYS - TN and MYS - MV RSA. So the rake will be used to the fullest.
I will update the status of Bidar pit line from HK rail fans , if BIDR pitline is ready , then existing YPR-BIDR has a bright chance of getting shifted to Bidar base

Yes , the idling hours in the pit line for maintenance in MS yard is reduced as MS yard has very tight schedule.
This train will get OEA at MS and SCT and PM@ TEN for all rakes

The demand for a faster train journey between Bengaluru and Mangaluru will soon be realised with the South Western Railway (SWR) proposing to run Kudla Express, the soon-to-be-launched day train, on the newly laid Bengaluru-Hassan line.

The service was announced as a daily via Mysuru by former Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda. Following a public interest writ petition by the Udupi Railway Yatri Sangha before the Karnataka High Court, the SWR had promised to start the service by March 31.
The SWR has also proposed to make Mangaluru Junction the termination point of the Yeshwantpur-Karwar-Yeshwantpur tri-weekly (16515/516), given the low patronage between Mangaluru and Karwar. The Yeshwantpur-Karwar service leaves Yeshwantpur at 7 a.m. and reaches Mangaluru Junction at 5.40 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the Karwar-Yeshwantpur service leaves Mangaluru Junction at 11.10 a.m. and reaches Yeshwantpur via Arsikere at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Thus, passengers would get a day train facility on six days a week, SWR’s proposal says.
Kukke Shree Subrahmanya-Mangalore Railway Commuters’ Forum organiser Sudarshan Puttur thanked MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and the SWR for considering the forum’s suggestion to route Kudla Express via the newly opened line.
Bengaluru-Hassan services
The zone has also proposed to run an intercity express and a DEMU (diesel electric multiple unit) passenger between Hassan and Yeshwantpur.
The Hassan-Yeshwantpur Intercity will leave Hassan at 6.15 a.m. and reach Yeshwantpur at 9 a.m. In the return journey, the train will leave Yeshwantpur at 6.15 p.m. and reach Hassan at 9 p.m.
The express trains will halt at Chikkabanawara, Nelamangala, Kunigal, Yediyur, BG Nagar, Shravanabelagola and Channarayapatna.
The DEMU passenger service will leave Yeshwantpur at 7.30 a.m. and reach Hassan at 10.30 a.m. The Hassan-Yeshwantpur DEMU will leave Hassan at noon and reach Yeshwantpur at 3.30 p.m., halting at all stations en route.
