In 2021-23, we found out through #RTI how many times the officials of South East Central Railway have used the royal saloon. Railway officials don't have any control or restriction on their extravagant hobbies. While ministers travel in ordinary compartments, these officials travel in saloons that cost around 2.5 to 3 lakh rupees per trip. Trains are getting canceled, senior citizens' concessions are ending, and passengers are being put on waiting lists, but these carefree officials are enjoying themselves. In 2019, the chairman of the Railway Board issued an order stating that railway officials cannot travel in the saloon, but these disobedient officers have thrown that order in the trash. In 2018, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal reprimanded the railway officials for misusing the saloon. In 2018, the Railway Vigilance Team caught officials, along with their families, enjoying a joyride in the saloon at Bilaspur Railway Station and took strict action against them. In 2021, the saloon was used 34 times, and in 2022, it was used 30 times... (the information about the number of times the saloon was used in subsequent years is missing).
