Jan 27 2017 (09:11)   Bangalore Railway Division comes out with a wishlist for Centre

BENGALURU: With less than a week to go for the first Railway budget in 92 years to be merged with the General Budget, the Bangalore Railway Division has sent across its wishlist to the Centre for inclusion in the Pink Book (the official register of the Indian Railways).
Chief among the demands are a train connecting Hubballi with Mysuru via Bengaluru, three doubling projects and increased allocation for passenger amenities.
Speaking to Express on the doubling projects, Ashok Gupta, Chief Administrative Officer, Constructions, South Western Railway, said, “The doubling of the
existing line between Yeshwantpur and Baiyappanahalli via Hebbal will help us run more trains along this busy stretch. The 22-km line will require funding of Rs 170 crore.”
Another doubling line between Baiyappanahalli and Hosur that will cost Rs 375 crore has also been requested.
“This will be a 48-km line and will immensely help passengers commuting between the two cities regularly,” Gupta added. A 41-km second line between Penukonda and Dharmavaram via Nagasundaram that will cost Rs 294 crore has also been sought, he said.
Sanjiv Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru Railway Division, said, “To decongest the packed Chamundi Express that leaves from Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) station in the evenings, we have requested a day train that would connect Hubballi to Mysuru via Bengaluru. It is expected to be sanctioned.”
When asked if any more new trains were sought, the DRM said, “It is not possible to run more trains as we have already reached a saturation point. Hence, we have not requested for more.”
The Division has also sought funding to upgrade Platform 5 and 6 of the Banaswadi station and carry on yard-related work. “The platforms are very small and this is posing a problem to trains coming from Kolar. We need Rs 11 crore for it but even if Rs 3 toRs 4 crore is released, we can begin work on it,” he said.
Agarwal also said that Bengaluru was hoping to get more funding to improve passenger amenities across its Division. “We received very less for it in the previous budget and could not carry out many improvements,” he added.
The South Western Railway Zone (Bengaluru, Hubballi and Mysuru Railway Divisions) as a whole received only Rs 33 crore for passenger amenities in the 2016-17 Railway Budget whereas, it had received nearly Rs 90 crore in the 2015-16 budget, pointed out a top railway official. “We are hoping for Rs 100 crore for the SWR Zone for passenger amenities alone so that Bengaluru gets at least Rs 30 to Rs 40 crore allocated out of it,” he said.
Asked about what tops the amenity, the official said KSR, Cantonment, Yeshwantpur and Krishnajapuram stations require digital passenger information boards.

Here I want to put some points...
1)Why UBL - MYS Via SBC why can't UBL-MYS Via ASK...
2)Why not they asked New Trains only SBC is not Karnataka they could have asked new trains from other parts of Karnataka...
3)Why not a New Trains from SBC-MYS before Chamundi Exp... no need to run UBL-MYS Via SBC to match the time before Chamundi....

On the lighter side,It's my view only that's it....

SWR has really gone wrong in setting the TT of New UBL - SBC- MYS Express, It wont help UBL people in any sense, It will rather act as a new FAST PASSENGER...... Instead they could have gone with following TT : as BGM - SBC - MYS SF Express
BGM : 18:30
UBL : 21:30/45
SBC : 06:10/25
: 09:30
I know, the TT between SBC and MYS would clash between SBC and MYS, but would give better patronage to the train between BGM and SBC when compared to a day train between this route with just 47 AVg..... where in a normal train has atleast 53 kmph avg....
NO proper plans are laid by SWR in BGM - SBC section to make it comfortable....
* Adding stops to 12725 and 16590, has make them miserable to travel.....
* A new SF is required to make it comfortable to travel.

Second train terminal to ease congestion at Mysuru station R. Krishna Kumar MYSURU:
JANUARY 22, 2017 00:13 IST UPDATED: JANUARY 22, 2017 00:13 IST
Kadakola terminal has been proposed to come up at a cost of ₹65 crore
The completion of the second railway terminal for Mysuru will allow for additional train services from the city and help decongest the existing railway
station. The terminal has been proposed to come up at a cost of ₹65 crore at Kadakola.
The Kadakola terminal is close to Nanjangud and about 15.85 km from Mysuru, where the Railways has earmarked 55 acres of land – for laying new running lines, besides stabling tracks as well – so as to take the load off the existing Mysuru Railway Station.
At present, Mysuru station handles nearly 43 pairs of trains (including non-daily services). Of these, 24 pairs operate on the Mysuru-Bengaluru section. However, the city station has only three pit lines for primary maintenance of trains and for taking up secondary maintenance. Each exercise requires about 4 to 8 hours. With the existing pit lines fully slotted, new trains or services cannot be introduced without creating additional pit lines for maintenance. Owing to this, the development of Kadakola is perceived to be urgent.
This issue was also raised by Pratap Simha, MP, Mysuru, at a recent meeting with the General Manager of the South Western Railway. Sources said that the detailed plan for the Kadakola station was prepared and submitted to the Railway Ministry for final approval.
The proposed work at Kadakola includes laying of three running lines of 750 m, two high-level island platforms, 2 pit lines of 650 m, 2 stabling lines of 650 m, 1 shunting neck of 700 m in length access from all the running and non-running lines. There is also a proposal to have an inspection car siding line of 150 m and 2 maintenance lines – in addition to pit lines – of 120 m.
The key requirement is water supply for maintenance, staff and passengers but can be harnessed from the nearby Kabini. A new station building has also been proposed to accommodate the entire yard within the available railway land.
Sources say if the existing pit lines at the Mysuru station are shifted to Kadakola, space will be freed up to create three additional platforms at Mysuru and will suffice to handle a higher volume of traffic. Hence, Kadakola could be a maintenance yard with all passenger services originating from Mysuru in future.
City set to become a transportation hub
The development of Kadakola as the second terminus for Mysuru will turn it into a transportation hub as the Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) will commence its work on the development of an inland container yard there.
The KIADB has already handed over land to CONCOR which will invest ₹100 crore in the project. The new container yard will spread over 50 acres and will provide logistic solutions to export-oriented units in the Mysuru-Chamarjanagar-Mandya belt, while catering to Hassan and Chikkamagaluru.
× At present, the bulk of the finished products meant for exports, and the raw materials for their manufacture, are transported by road but the inland container yard will not only enable a smooth shift to rail, but provide a single window clearance with documentation facilities to complete the export procedure locally before being shipped to the ports.

Rajashekar G Masali is a legal adviser at the Mandya deputy commissioner's office and visits the Mysuru railway station every week with a broom, mop and cleaning agent. In tow are 10 pourakarmikas. They diligently scrub and clean Chamundi Express train's wash basins, toilets and windowpanes of its coaches.Masali was pained by the state of the toilets on this train, which he takes to travel to Mandya and Bengaluru regularly on work. A resident of Mysuru's Vivekananda Nagar, Masali's impression about the lack of train's upkeep was confirmed by a conversation be tween two passengers, who spoke of an unbearable foul smell from the loos.
On July 2, Masali -who has authored six law books -took up the cleaning operation of
the train at the Mysuru station. After obtaining approval from divisional railway manager Atul Gupta and the carriage depot officer of the South Western Railway's Mysuru division, Masali hired ten pourakarmikas to help him in the campaign.
“We took up the cleaning operation twice a week -Tuesdays and Sundays. It starts around 9.30pm and ends by 4am the next day . We manage to clean all the toilets, wash basins, windowpanes in all the carriages of the train,“ he said.
To take his campaign to the next level, Masali prepared a questionnaire on his initiative and distributed it among passengers for a feedback. From about 1,000 replies, Masali made a personal call to 85 frequent passengers to join his campaign. “We've decided to create awareness on cleanliness among cotravellers,“he said.

Though i have seen news reports about some organisation or group of individuals doing this on some occassions like Gandhi Jayanthi etc. this is the first time i am coming across a news that says about an individual with a group of cleaning staff visiting a railway station at regular intervals to clean trains. It is no wonder that MYS is one of the cleanest stations in the Country. Hats Off!!
