It amuses me to hear that a train is 24 hours late....
A gimmick by the IR for sure, perhaps they felt that it would be better than saying that IT WAS CANCELLED FOR THE DAY !!

Since the time Duronto's & Garib Rath's have been introduced by the respective RM's (LPY & MB), on an overall rating how would you rate their experience in terms of popularity, running schedule etc. Point worth noting is that certain routes might have liked it and others not, but would like to know an overall rating of it.

Yeah SC-VSKP is the best one, always houseful!!....in fact railways has some time ago done a survey and found that this is one of the busiest route, so they increased its frequency to everyday.
Also on my favorite is the SC-YPR exp, always full of techies like me!!, ~99 % of the tickets booked are e-tickets and ~90% techies, traveled more than 100 times, wonderful experience. Runs full on weekends, however getting a ticket on weekdays is very easy. It would be great if this train can start

& end at Bangalore City (SBC) instead of Yesvantpur, going to and coming back from Yesvantpur is a hell in bangalore.

Thank got I didn't get SMB. Phir bhi, when I am travelling alone, I always go for SLB or UB. SLB is my favorite.
.
This is the time when ordinary trains also had SMB. I and my parents were traveling from NLR to SC by Charminar Express. We got all SMBs only! That was a horrible experience. Nobody was ready

to exchange, so we 3, somehow managed in the SMB only. That was the first and the last time I traveled in SMB. Never after that.

As always, the current/new RM laid down that 'Safety' is his prime concern and that mesures need to be taken to ensure they have a quality system in place.
Infact there are a whole lot of things the current RM needs to pay attention.First is ofcourse of passenger safety and security, then comes things like food, hygeine, cleanliness, schedules, track maintanence. I still feel that even after decentralizing the catering system in certain zones, the catering hasn't really improved, (maybe barring certain trains).
The RPF positions which are still vacant and that

to, too many, need to be filled urgently or else the security wil never be tightened, since we won't have enough people to monitor them.
Also, since fares haven't been increased for quite sometime now, I was reading an article that simply the freight income isn't able to give the railways that surplus which is required to mantain the standards which railways is required to (though not sure too much about it). The coming Rail Budget next year might see the fares being increased.
It's an open view point, others might like to give their views.

The zonal system creates all these issues.Since every zone has their set of trains plying to different zones, they would want to treat their own trains on better level than the other zonal trains.A very simple example is that if a certain train of NR zone is coming to NDLS along with trains of other zones, the NR zone will be given preference over other zonal trains, and will be given entry over the other zonal trains. Similar is the case with the maintanence of trains, hence it doesn't shock us too much when we hear these issues. The only and prime concern is people like us as pasengers who travel in the trains and because of the tussle between the zonal railways such negligence is bound to happen and we as passengers have to face it.

MoS for Railways Mukul Roy defies PM, refuses to visit Assam train accident site
*****************************************
A junior minister in the railway ministry on Monday defied the PM's directive to visit the train accident site in Assam, and instead chose to accompany his party chief, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee to Jangalmahal.
Minister of state Mukul Roy did not hesitate to deliver a further snub

"I am not the railway minister, the PM is, " he said as he slammed the door of his car and sped away.

An inhuman person should be sacked straight away. Just because he's not in the running of RM, made his ego come into the picture. I wonder how can these guys handle even state level porfolios if they are given by any chance. They can't perform on the local front, leave aside the national front.
The Railways portfolio is a prestigious assignment and one which should be dealt with utmost responsibility, the problem is that the past RM was hardly bothered about the Ministry, bilnded
