Hello all, While booking Rail ticket through IRCTC, is it acceptable if i book a full seat for 2 kids of 6 years instead of booking 2 separate half seats for them. Please let me know who have this experience if yes is it necessary to produce any kind of proof.
Note: booking under SL class.
Thanks
Shital

I can understand your concern that you need only one seat.. But railways don't think like that.. So you'll be needed to have two separate seats booked, although you will be charged half for both the tickets.. Its not possible to have one single seat for two persons..

Being a parent of a 8-year-old, I understand your concerns. But, unfortunately, I think we have to book two tickets for two kids. IR does not term it half-ticket, it is one full seat/berth at subsidized fare, thats all. IR does not mind them going waste. Anyways it will not as the concerned TTE will grab those opportunities. Above 5 years, you do not necessarily carry an ID proof for the kids, though if they are booked as separate tickets, yes you have to.

Pooled Quota (PQ) is a quota operated by Indian Railways and is used for travellers wishing to travel from :-
A. Starting station to Intermediate Station
B. Intermediate station to Intermediate Station , &
C. Intermediate station to Last Station
This
...
quota has a small number of seats/berths. Pooled Quota (PQ) is always charted at the originating station of the train. So a traveller commencing its jourmey from Starting station of a train will always be put under either General Quota or Pooled Quota with the exception of trains having Road Side (RS) quota for the intended station.
Once the Pooled Quota (PQ) seats are exhausted, Pooled Quota Waiting List (PQWL) starts as there is no Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) provision in Pooled Quota. PQWL waiting will only clear if a confirmed ticket cancellation takes place.

There should be one train atleast on weekend from Hyderabad to Kolhapur via HYDERABAD -> SOLAPUR->PANDHARPUR->KOLHAPUR, through this route journey is short distance, passengers who are going from HYB to KOL, will take almost 24hours if they travel through the train which already running ie 07143, I request to change its route to as per above indicated, passengers will be much benefited.
Thank you

For 8th you have to book on 6th but you can do it only on prs. From irctc you can book only on 7th. By 7th it will definitely be wl.

One of the reasons could be that the chain you are trying to create is already existing. check that as well

To travel from Hyderabad to Bijapur with existing only one passenger train (Hyderabad Bijapur Passenger/57130) takes 15 hours to reach Bijapur. So with one change of train at SOLAPUR station one can save almost 4 to 5 hours time.
