Bengaluru-Hassan Intercity Express' new rake. And also Kudla Express' (?).
Today I spotted 3 brand new rakes stabled at BYPL yard. 2 ICF rakes and 1 LHB rake.
1. One of them is
for Bengaluru-Hassan Intercity Express via the new line as per news report /news/post/294551. It had many Deen Dayalu coaches.
2. The 2nd ICF rake too had many Deen Dayalu coaches. Maybe for Kudla Express - the day train proposed between Bengaluru and Mangaluru via the new line.
3. The 3rd rake was a LHB one with sleeper and AC coaches. Maybe if Kudla Express is started as night train, they may use for it (?).
Most of the Deen Dayalu coaches had ECR markings - 2017 made. Some of them CR and NER - 2016 made. The LHB train had CR markings - 2016 made.
P.S.: Kudla is what Tuluvas call Mangaluru as, hence the name.

A small write-up on Hassan Junction
Hassan was a small way side station upto the year 1979. In 1979 a new line to Mangaluru in MG was opened. Hassan became a junction. Further during 2006-07 a line was added to SBGA a distance of 45 kms which is part of HAS-SBC new line via Kunigal. Now Hassan Junction has lines in four directions one to ASK,one to MAQ,another to MYS and latest one to SBGA.During MG period 3 passenger trains used to run from MYS-ASK via Has.In 1979 night train to MAQ from SBC via ASK was introduced. In the beginning it was bi-weekly, later made as a daily. I have watched the progress of rlys in Hassan cery closely as my
father served in rural parts of Hassan District for almost 3 decades. In 1961 Hassan became the first district with fully natrionalised bus service in the old Mysuru state region covered by erstwhile MSRTC

Feb 22 2017 (09:21)   New Bengaluru-Hassan line commissioning next week; Prime Minister invited for inauguration

Hassan-Yeshwantpur Intercity Express is the first confirmed train to run after the formal inauguration, the date for which is yet to be announced
BANGALORE: Former Prime Minister and Hassan Lok Sabha member H.D. Deve Gowda will invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the new Hassan-Bengaluru line. “The Railway Minister (Suresh Prabhu) desires that the line be opened by the Prime Minister and [has] requested me to extend a formal invitation. I’m going to Delhi tomorrow and try to speak the Prime Minister or intimate this to his office,” Mr. Deve Gowda told on Tuesday.
after coming to power, Mr.Modi had promised to complete the line on priority; it still took about three years. “I am not going to blame anyone for the inordinate delay of 22 years for the completion of the line,” said Mr. Deve Gowda, who had sanctioned the line when he was PM.
The 110-km Nelamangala-Shravanabelagola railway line, part of the new 166-km Bengaluru-Hassan line, is set to be commissioned by South Western Railway (SWR) on February 28. This follows authorisation given by A.K. Manoharan, Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, who inspected the line and conducted speed trials between February 6 and 10. Ashok Gupta, chief administrative officer, Construction, SWR, told The Hindu that the commissioner on Monday issued authorisation to run passenger trains with a maximum speed of 80 kmph.
With this, the hope of the people of Hassan and coastal regions for the shortest rail route to Bengaluru has come true. The project had been announced by Deve Gowda way back in 1996, but the work progressed at a snail’s pace, partly owing to non-availability of land and mostly because of meagre fund allocation by the Railways.
Sharing the cost
In 2010, the then Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa decided to share the cost of ongoing as well as new Railway projects to sped up the work. More funds from the Railways came when D.V. Sadananda Gowda was Railway Minister.
SWR’s chief public relations officer E. Vijaya said the commissioning would be done with a trial run of a passenger train on the section on February 28. The formal inauguration would be done depending upon the dates acceptable for the dignitaries.
New train
As of now, SWR has planned an intercity express between Hassan and Yeshwantpur, leaving Hassan at around 6 a.m. and reaching Yeshwantpur at 9.30 a.m. In the return direction, the train would leave Yeshwantpur at around 6 p.m. and reach Hassan at 9.30 p.m. It is tentatively scheduled to halt at Chikkabanavar, Kunigal, Yediyur, Balagangadhar Nagar, Shravanabelagola and Channarayapatna.
Meanwhile, the zone has sought the Railway Board’s permission to re-route the yet-to-be-introduced Train No. 16575/576 Bengaluru-Mangaluru Kudla Express via the new route. Mr. Sadananda Gowda had announced this train in 2014 to run via Mysuru.
Ms. Vijaya also said three goods trains between Mangaluru and Bengaluru would be diverted via the new section after February 28.
Manpower allocation
Since it is a large section, SWR requires at least 120 workers, including 60 tracks-men and about 35 stations masters. The zone is in the process of identifying personnel for posting and the process could take about a fortnight, Ms. Vijaya said.

It is expected to be operationalby February-end
The inspection of the 110-km railway line between Nelamangala and Shravanabelagola by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) was completed on Friday.
K.A. Manoharan, Commissioner of Railway Safety (Bengaluru), conducted the five-day inspection, which began on February 6.
The track’s suitability was also tested by running the train at 110 km/h.
team, which included Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Ashok Gupta and Divisional Railway Manager Sanjiv Agarwal, inspected the track, bridges, stations, signal and basic amenities along the route.
Mr. Manoharan, speaking to presspersons at Shravanabelagola, said that the track condition was okay but there were minor issues with regard to other things.
“The issues that need to be improved have been brought to the notice of officials concerned,” he said.
The line connecting Hassan and Bengaluru via Shravanabelagola was proposed 20 years ago when H.D. Deve Gowda was the Prime Minister.
The line is expected to be operational by the end of this month. Mr. Gupta said that he was hopeful that the train would run by the end of February.
‘Remarkable construction’
Mangaluru Special Correspondent reports:
K.N. Krishnaprasad and T.P. Lokesh from Karnataka Railway Vedike, a rail advocacy group, who witnessed the inspection on Friday, said that the construction was remarkable despite two-decade delay. Platforms at all stations are designed to accommodate a full-train (24 coaches) even as there are no level crossings on the entire section.
An engineer with SWR construction wing however said only one level crossing exists near Soladevanahalli, off Nelamangala, which can be eliminated.
Otherwise, railway under or over bridges are constructed between Nelamangala and Hassan for crossing roads.
This helps operating trains at high speeds, Mr. Prasad said.
Parts of the Bengaluru-Hassan new line (166 km), Chikkabanavara-Nelamangala and Shravanabelagola-Hassan, are already commissioned.
