Train no 12493/94: Miraj - Hazrat Nizamuddin Darshan SF Express...... Yay! 🤩 ▪ Back in the days, when there used to be a meter gauge line between Miraj and Goa, the Goa Express used to run from Vasco to Miraj every day. And there was a connecting train called Miraj - Hazrat Nizamuddin Express, which was pretty popular and had its main maintenance at Miraj. ▪ But after they converted the Vasco Miraj line to broad gauge, both the trains got canceled. Instead, they introduced the Goa SF Express to Hazrat Nizamuddin with new timings. ▪ This train created a good connection between the three stations, but there was still a demand for a dedicated train between Miraj and Hazrat Nizamuddin because passengers really wanted it. ▪ So they initially started the Darshan Express between Pune and Hz Nizamuddin because of some constraints on the Pune Miraj section which had only one line. ▪ But then they doubled and electrified the Pune Miraj line as planned. And on August 21, 2023, they finally extended the Darshan Express to Miraj. Hooray! ▪ Nowadays, the train stops at Jejuri, Satara, Karad, and Sangli on its way to Miraj.
