dear mahaveer ji, sorry for delayed response. Thanks for sharing your tkt pics. I would like to state some facts about telescopic fares.
1.telescopic fares are a facility given to passengers making long journeys more than 500km or journeys where railways are unable to provide direct connectivity
2.onward journey/continuation journey is when your train reaches destination and you board the next train within 24 hrs. In this case fare charged on second ticket will be rs. Zero(your tkt beingonward tkt)
3.break
...
journey is when you opt for maximum of two days of break(excluding the date of arrival and departure) in the transition station. The second ticket will consist of fresh resvn charges of rs.20/30
4.change of class/category of trains allowed...like m/e to sf, m/e to passenger, 2s to sl, 3a to sl etc...but the fare for highest class and highest category will be charged. For eg.if u travel in sleeper of passenger for 500km and then 3a of express for 115km, you will be charged for 3a of express for through out 615km
5.this facility is not available for premier category trains like rajdhani, duronto, shatabdi, jan shatabdi, shivalik deluxe, yuva and garib rath
6.you can break journeys at any station after completion of 500km for maxm of 2 days and then again for 2 days after completion of 500km from first break point
7.you have to get your tkt endorsed by station master in break journeys. Its not reqd in onward journeys(this rule hs bn scrapped since 2010, but still better to endorse to avoid hassles)
8.you may opt for any train any class, even same train on next day, but not same train same day
9.total distance should be less than 15 percent surplus of train plying along the shortest possible route
10.break journeys and onward journeys have to be announced during booking and not during travel
11. 3 or even 4 tickets may be issued in single telescopic advantage tkt, depending on the options. Say first being onward, second break, 3rd onward and 4th break. Its allowed
12.you can only book first two legs in one sitting. For third/fourth/any subsequent legs, you may have to requeue up to counter and present the form on same day or any later date and time along with original tkt. Just the first ticket will be blank paper tkt. Rest all will be resvn slips(invalid without bpt)
13.bpt and cont.tkts r almost same. Except that bpt is total km calculated manually by clerk and then feeded into system and tkts issued accordingly. Cont.tkts r combinations already feeded into system
14.telescopic fares are applicable for all classes and both reserved and unreserved tickets.
please reply if you have any querries, or if you feel there is any error.
Thanks for your patient reading
regards

1. I differ. There is no such distance stipulation of 500 km.
3. Excluding the day of arrival and departure.
4. No. 3AC Fare for Express for 615 is not charged. There are some deductions.
5. Yuva, GR and JS do not fall into premium category of trains.
8.

Is it regarding Break Journey you are talking about?
9. Not necessarily train should ply via the shortest possible route.
11/12. Would need to verify this. Kindly provide with any screen shot of tickets if you have availed such facility.
13. BPT's are issued in unusual circumstances when there is no possible connection possible between two stations or the train takes a longer route. As more and more people starts availing tickets via the same route, the same is fed into the system and is then issued as Normal Reservation Tickets.

1.for break journeys, minimum distance travelled should be more than 500 kilometres
also as personally experienced by me in /blog/post/444282
2.i have also said excluding the day of arrival and departure
4.as far as my knowledge goes the fare for 615 km will be charged as the entire fare is calculated in first ticket and during booking first ticket you cannot feed in

details of second/third leg. so system is unaware whether i ll book by which train
5 yuva gr and js are all unavailable for telescopic. they may not be premier trains but are all included in special category trains with point to point fare structure.
8.yes it is for break journey
9.my knowledge supports this. i might be incorrect but this is what i know
11/12 screenshot attached /blog/post/444282/40
13 bpt are abolished by IR but many stations are not feeded so bpt are quite frequently issued. rather 8 out of 10 of my last break/onward journey tickets have been bpt
