Another interesting story which fascinates me till now is of the establishment of Mughalsarai Junction Station & it's township. During Mughal Raj India Days, various Mughal People used to travel from East/South-East India towards North India via the Grand Trunk Road built by Mughal Ruler Sher Shah Suri. Since that road was from Decca(now Dhaka) to Peshawar, it's route was via Calcutta-Mirzapur-Cawnpore-Delhi-Umbala-Amritsar-Lahore. Most of these Mughal Caravans used to stop at a particular place between Chanduali Majwr and Jeonathpur. Being a place also having direct access towards Benaras in Vyasnagar Direction, it was used as an Inn (Sarai as in Hindi) for Overnight Stay by these caravans. Thus, the local people over there named that place as Mughalsarai.

during British Raj India, the First Rail Line which was laid from Howrah to Delhi Jn(Old Delhi) was via Hooghly - Sahibganj - Gaya - Moghalsarai - Cawnpore. Later, Moghalsarai Station turned into a Junction when further routes from Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Daltonganj and Dhanbad Side were joined with it over the years. Today, I think Mughalsarai Jn serves the Max No of Rajdhani and Duronto Trains in India.
