Extract from trainenquiry.com website:
"You are allowed to carry luggage alongwith with you, in your compartment, at no extra cost, if it does not exceed the free allowance, However, you should avoid carrying offensive, explosive and dangerous articles.
Prams, Umbrellas, TV sets, Laptop computers and Wheel Chairs for handicapped passengers are permitted within Free allowance and can be carried in person."

allowance for different classes are as follows:
"Ac First Class 70 Kgs 15 kgs 150 kgs
Ac 2-Tier Sleeeper/
First class 50 kgs 10 kgs 100 kgs
AC 3-Tier Sleeper/
AC Chair car 40 kgs 10kgs 40 kgs
Sleeper Class
(Exp/Ordy) 40 kgs 10 kgs 80 kgs
Second Class
(Exp/Ordy) 3l5 kgs 10 kgs 70 kgs"
You can keep it on your berth and adjust yourself without causing disturbance to other passengers. You weigh all your baggage including the TV and pay excess luggage fare if required before entering the platform. As a courtesy it is better to keep the TTE informed about the total luggage carried by you. If your luggage exceeds the free allowance, there is every possibility you being harassed at your destination. Usually the railway police personnels and low level railway staff totally unconnected with this work concentrate on passengers with such big carton boxes. You will be threatened with levy of penalty. Usually even where it does not exceed the permissible limits they are in practice of harassing gullible laymen and extract money. Better make sure your total baggage is weighed and accounted for.

Free allowance of 50 kg and additional marginal allowance of 10 kg i.e.total 60 kg per passenger. No restriction on the number of packages. You can carry upto 100 kgs in the compartment but in that case you will have to pay the charge for the remaining 50 kgs.

Thank You for the reply.
What is the process for the payment and what are the charges for the extra luggage? Can this be paid at Sarai Rohilla station?
Also how long does the whole process take? That is, how early will I have to turn up at the station?
