So far so good.
For commercial operation of talgo trains at 180kmph, the trial speed has to be at least 200 kmph.
Trial speed shall be increased in slabs of 10 kmph subject to condition that the trial result of current (i.e lower) speed is OK. The level of 130 has been achieved. If the analysis of data recorded at 130 kmph show good ride, then we will go for 140 .. then 150.. 160 ..and so on.
If...
more... the test results permit, Ideally we should continue the trials till the level of maximum speed limit of Talgo trains on Spanish tracks is achieved. It is a matter great anxiety that how much speed the combination of Indian Track and the Talgo train shall successfully achieve. Also it is matter of pride and of nostalgic importance to IRly officials involved in these trials. These trials are of historic importance and have a great bearing on the future of (semi) High Speed Trains in India.
It looks like a contest between IRly track, Talgo Train and our Railway Electrification Systemalso as the trials will have to be conducted on electric traction before commercial operation.
Let us hope that our tracks will test the Talgo trains to its maximum speed limit.
