A lot of improvement with respect to upgrading the permanent way & rolling stock standards has been done in BG, while the MG/NG sections has been neglected. This step looks justified to some extent as IR has embarked on its project uniguage policy 25 years ago and still continuing with about 70% of the target already achieved.

railway system including permanent way, rolling stock, operation & maintenance practices, workshop modernisation etc should be done as has done with the BG network. Just construction of anti crash barriers, retaining walls is not going to eliminate the problems being faced.

Heritage trains must not derail now and then, as it is a matter of safety of passengers and a prestige issue for our nation as tourists (including foreign tourists) travel in these trains.
