IR ki karya pranali mein amool chool parivartan ki sakth avashyakata hai, Anyatha yeh ro-dho ke ghate mein hi chalta rahega. Museebatein kain hain-
- Political interference- loss making new trains, projects etc implemented
- IR being many times treated as personal fiefdom of officials/politicians to fulfil personal/political/ departmental interests
- Internal inefficieny- Historiaclly a Slow/poor decision making, inefficient work practices lead

- Huge manpower- Laziness, complacency towards duties, incompetency of a many employees
- Continuing with old practices- IR had been very slow in adopting the latest technology, & latest Operation/ Maintenance/ management practices.
- Corruption- Maximum complaints are received by CVC from Rly ministry, in fact much higher than all the govt. banks put together. Commercial deptts (Rly ticket counters, parcel offices etc) having direct contact with customers are especially notorious.

Prabhu ji bas fare bhadate hai aur bolte hai Railway loss me hai. Jab aisi harkate hongi to Railway loss me nahi to aur kya honga. Jab suresh prabhi yeh nahi theek kar sakte to kuch nahi hosakta unse.

IR financial breakdown ki kagaar pe hai (110 operating ratio+ 7th pay comm.30000 Cr, very high pax subsidy 35000 Cr, very low freight loading offered to IR 11% lesser 10000 Cr), Revenue badhaane ki sakth zaroorat hai aur iske liye GMS DRMs ko decision lene ke powers delegate kiye gaye hain, aur targets diye gaye hain, lekin woh log sahi faisle nahin le rahe hain.

(2) Ghaate waali kum dabbon wali DD/Shat/Duro/ passenger trains ka rationalisation/ optimisation nahin kar rahe hain
(3) Jab tak IR ki financial condition nahin sudhar jaati, Ghaate waale prijects ko identify karke temporarily freeze karna chahiye, jo ki nahin kar rahe hain.
(4) Employees ko multitasking mein train karke karya efficiency badhaane ki zaroorat hai, jo ki nahin kiya jaa raha hai (75% of revenue is being spent on Pay/Perks/Pension)
