* Many special fare trains are getting very poor patronage. 24 berths booked in a special train starting from Bengaluru is a joke.
* On the one hand IR seeks budgetary support to tune of 60000 Crore Rs per year (poeples' or tax payers' money) and on the other hand is hell bent to fleece people by charging extortionist special/Flexi/Suvidha/Tatkal/PT fares, even if trains go practically empty.
* The vacant seats in trains are are of no use to public and is a blatant misuse of public money.
*...
more... Large number of vacant seats/berths in Rajdhain/Shatabdi/Duronto are mainly due to Flexifare. And most of the failed special fare/Suvidha trains are a consequence of very high fares.
* Loss from passenger business is mainly due to inefficient/ faulty management where
trains are going vacant due to unrealistically high fares,
many impractical trains are operated with less coaches which are less patronised and give poor revenues,
practice of without ticket travel,
corruption at various levels etc.
Many deserving routes are not getting investments/trains and some routes getting more investment/trains than they deserve.
Scarce resources/funds are being spent on financially unviable projects/trains/stations etc.
