Western Railway will now be running two of its popular trains using LHB rakes instead of the conventional rakes o­n permanent basis. Train No. 19049/19050 Bandra Terminus – Patna Weekly Express & Train No. 22965/66 Bandra Terminus – Bhagat ki Koti Weekly Express were being run with LHB coaches from 17.04.2017 to 30.06.2017 o­n temporary basis. It has now been decided to run these trains with LHB coaches o­n permanent basis. The train will comprise of AC 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier, Sleeper class and General class coaches.

Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon'ble Minister of Railways has dispatched letters to MLAs and Sarpanches of villages of entire country enumerating the accomplishments of Railway Ministry in the last three years.
The 17 Zonal offices as well as their Divisional offices have been entrusted with the distribution work. The letter written by Shri Prabhu elucidates the various achievements of Railways undertaken under the able guidance of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India. Also, the future projects to be implemented has also been outlined therein. Shri Prabhu has stated that the public transporter carries around 7.2 billion people of the country every year. In the year 2015-16, 2828 kms of new lines were laid, 1730 kms of gauge conversion & doubling work was completed. Around 13,000 letters have been dispatched to the Sarpanches of the villages in the state of Gujarat which is under W.Rly. Shri Prabhu has also written letter to retired railway employees containing the details of the achievements and have also sought innovative ideas/ suggestions from them.

In consonance with the directives of Hon’ble Railway Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu that each division of the zonal railways shall undertake a first-hand account of people's problems by convening meetings with the regional public representatives, Delhi Division of Northern Railway held a meeting today with Hon’ble Members of Parliament in the region served by Delhi Division. The Meeting was held at the Northern Railway Officers Club in the precincts of the Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway, Delhi’s office at State Entry Road, New Delhi. The dignitaries who were present include Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan Hon’ble Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation and Hon’ble Members of Parliament, Smt. Senior Management of Northern Railway who were present at the meeting include General Manager of Northern Railway Shri R.K.Kulshrestha, all Principal Heads of Departments of Northern Railway and Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway, Delhi, Shri R.N.Singh besides Addl. Divisional Railway Managers, Delhi and senior railway officers.

Northern Railway had constituted a divisional committee of MPs in all its five divisions so that the railways could address people's problems o­n top priority besides obtaining a feed-back o­n real-time demands and aspirations of the countrymen from the Railways. General Manager of Northern Railway Shri R.K.Kulshrestha welcomed the honourable guests and highlighted the achievements of Delhi Division of Northern Railway besides an over-view of the initiatives taken by the Railways for greater passenger convenience.


Delhi Division had marked the year 2016-17 with significant achievements. The electrification of Ghaziabad-Meerut-Saharanpur, Rohtak-Jind rail section have resulted in positive spin-off in raising sectional speed and introduce faster inter-city services for the convenience of rail passengers. On the whole, a total of 230 km of new track has been laid in the National Capital Region and greater NCR regions. This includes doubling of track from Jakhal to Mansa, Panipat-Khukrana Line, new line between Jind Sonepat, 4th line between Palwal-Asaoti and new line between Jind-Sonepat. Free Wi-fi service has been provided in all A-1 Category stations. The Division has also taken consistent efforts to provide a better logistic interface besides the general relentless pursuit to bring about a perceptible improvement in the passengers interface areas. Paperless Mobile ticketing, Coin-operated ATVMs have facilitated hassle-free ticket purchase. Water vending machines have been commissioned at 34 locations in the Division.

The dignitaries highlighted specific demands from the general public with regard to rail development in their regions, the construction of Road-over-Bridges, Limited Height Subways in lieu of level-crossings, additional stoppages to trains at stations, development of stations, passenger amenities etc and suggested various measures to further improve amenities for passengers. The Railway Management made detailed notes of the various demands and suggestions and assured that these would be studied o­n priority and feedback of various studies appraised to the Hon’ble Ministers and Members of Parliament. Members of Parliament also lauded the efforts of Northern Railway in implementing the various suggestions put forth in the earlier Meeting held last year.

Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway, Delhi Shri RN Singh thanked the Hon’ble Members of Parliament and assured them that diligent efforts shall be taken to study the various proposals and demands.
