On being asked about running of trains from other places like Midnapore, Raipur, Rourkela and Jagdalpur, ECoR chief public relations officer JP Mishra said, "We are open to all proposals. In case there is a demand for special trains from these places, the same can be examined and run, if found feasible." The ECoR will also open five additional enquiry counters, 35 additional ticket counters, 'May I Help You' booths and additional ticket checking staff at Puri railway station to tackle the heavy rush of passengers. BERHAMPUR: Railway Budget's allocation of only Rs 1,000 for the wagon manufacturing factory at Sitalapalli in Odisha's Ganjam district has raised serious "doubts" over the project's implementation.
.
The factory was announced in 2011-12 by the then Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee. Since then every year the allocation has been meager.
.

proposed project was supposed to be implemented in public-private partnership (PPP) mode and the ministry had sought around 100 acre of land. Odisha government identified around 101 acres but the groundwork is yet to start.
.
"The Centre is not sincere about the project and we are doubtful about its implementation," said senior Congress leader and former Union minister Chandra Sekhar Sahu, blaming the state for not mounting pressure on the Centre.
.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed regret over the allocation of a token amount for the project. "He has moved the Centre to increase the amount," said BJD MLA (Berhampur) R Ch Chyaupatnaik.
.
"We hope the Centre will reconsider its decision and allocate a higher amount to expedite the much-awaited project," BJD vice-president (women wing) Mamata Bisoi said.
.
Sitalapalli is near the Jagannathpur railway station, about 20 km from here. Establishment of the wagon factory at Sitalapalli is important because Tata Steel is setting up an industrial park near it.
.
An all-weather port Gopalpur and two special economic zones have also been set up in the area. Tata Steel and Saraf Agency Ltd will be developing the SEZs.

Stating that a large part of Odisha still remained untouched by the Railways, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday demanded that these backward regions should be connected with the national network by sanctioning projects proposed by the State Government.
In a letter to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, the Chief Minister said two most important lines to connect the backward regions of Odisha are Jeypore-Malkangiri (going up to Bhadrachalam in Andhra Pradesh) and Jeypore-Nabarangpur.
The preliminary survey for these two lines had been done by the Railways and as these fall in Left Wing

Extremist-affected backward and tribal areas, the rate of return was low. The State Government has given consent to bear 25 per cent of construction cost for Jeypore-Malkangiri line and 50 per cent construction cost along with free land for Jeypore-Nabarangpur line.
This contribution bridges the viability gap of both the projects as the revised RoR has increased to 17 per cent and 19 per cent respectively, which are higher than 14 per cent cut off fixed by the Railway Ministry, he said and requested Prabhu to sanction the projects.
The Chief Minister demanded that the Sambalpur-Berhampur new line via Phulbani and Rayagada-Gopalpur rail link for which survey has been sanctioned should be declared as national projects. He requested the Railway Minister to extend the eastern dedicated freight corridor from Dankuni to Berhampur to ensure seamless movement of freight between the upcoming ports on Odisha coast including the Paradip Port and the vast northern and central hinterlands of the country.
Naveen also requested that Rail Vikash Nigam Limited (RVNL) should be asked to complete the Angul-Dubri-Sukinda and Haridaspur-Paradip rail links within the targeted timelines. Though SPVs have been formed for the two projects, the performance of RVNL is far from satisfactory, he said.
The Chief Minister said Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) should be introduced in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, which are being developed as a Twin City and as per the comprehensive development plan (CDP) prepared by IIT, Kharagpur, the population will cross 2.7 million by 2021.
He said growth in different geographic areas of the State now called for a reorganisation of administrative structure of East Coast Railway (ECoR). He requested the Railway Minister to establish new divisional headquarters at Rayagada, Jajpur-Keonjhar Road and Rourkela by extending the jurisdiction of ECoR to include Banspani-Padapahar section, Bhadrak-Lakhmanath section in Khurda road division and Jharsuguda-Barsuan-Kiriburu, Rourkela-Nuagaon and Jharsuguda-Himagiri section in Sambalpur division.
The Chief Minister reiterated the demand of the State for a package of `5000 crore in the Railway Budget 2016-17.

Now official twitter account of saying these railway demands for odisha:
1. CM @Naveen_Odisha commended @PMOIndia proposal to setup NINEI at Bhubaneswar & sought early announcement & fund release for kickoff.
2. Introduce new train service from Puri to Mumbai via Sambalpur and Titlagarh (Not possible as no new trains this time).
3. DMU/MEMU services in Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Rourkela, Cuttack-Paradeep, Bramhapur-Balasore & Rourkela-Keonjhar (Excellent demand).
4.
...
Expedite construction of Wagon Factory at Sitalapali, Ganjam.
5. Explore modalities to setup Mass Rapid Transport System in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack.
6. Modernize Bhubaneswar station, develop Naraj as green field station, upgrade Cuttack & Puri Station Buildings (CTC building is already on of the best).
7. Commence construction along Burhamura-Chakulia, Gunupur-Theruvelli and Banspani-Barbil.
8. Extend eastern dedicated freight corridor from Dankuni to Brahmapur for seamless movement of freight.
9. Railway link between Jeypore-Malkangiri & Jeypore-Nawrangpur.
10. Accord National Project status to Sambalpur-Berhampur and Raygada-Gopalpur rail link.
11. Expedite setup of JV for rail infraprojects & divisional HQs at Rayagada, Jajpur-Keonjhar Road & Rourkela.
Most greatest request:
CM @Naveen_Odisha wrote to @RailMinIndia emphasizing #Odisha as top investment destination & sought Rs5000cr allocation in Rail Budget.
Odisha deserves it because:
Odisha contributed in excess of Rs14000cr for 2014-15 to railways despite lower than national average rail density & route length.
Now that's some "noble" demands for odisha state.

DMU/MEMU services in Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Rourkela, Cuttack-Paradeep, Bramhapur-Balasore & Rourkela-Keonjhar is very urgently required at this moment as this will surely reduce the heavy unreserved crowd travelling in regular express trains for short journey.
