रेलवे ने अनरिजर्व्ड टिकटिंग ऐप (यूटीएस) के जरिए टिकटों की बिक्री को बढ़ावा देने के लिए अब जिओ-टैगिंग हटाने का फैसला किया है। जिओ-टैगिंग के कारण अभी यात्रियों को स्टेशन के 30 मीटर दायरे के बाहर जाकर मोबाइल से टिकट बुक करनी होती थी। अप्रैल 2015 रेलवे ने यूटीएस मोबाइल ऐप लॉन्च की थी। तीन साल बाद भी यात्रियों ने इस ऐप में अधिक रुचि नहीं दिखाई। इस ऐप के जरिए साधारण टिकट बुकिंग और सीजन टिकट भी बुक किया जा सकता है। जानकारों के अनुसार जिओ-टैगिंग के कारण यह ऐप इतनी लोकप्रिय नहीं हुई।

सेंट्रल रेलवे के एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी के अनुसार, 'जिओ-टैगिंग हटाने के लिए मुंबई के बाहर किसी अन्य स्टेशन पर परीक्षण किया जा रहा है। इसके अंतर्गत यात्री स्टेशन परिसर के अंतर्गत ही मोबाइल से टिकट बुक कर सकेंगे।' इस तरह से टिकट बुक कराने के लिए यूटीएस मोबाइल टिकट ऐप डाउनलोड करना पड़ता है। मोबाइल नंबर रजिस्टर कराने के बाद आर-वॉलेट में कम से कम 100 रुपये और अधिकतम 5000 रुपये जमा रखना पड़ता है। ऐप को प्लेस्टोर से डाउनलोड किया जा सकता है।
अधिकारियों का तर्क है कि यदि किसी व्यक्ति को बेटिकट यात्रा करनी होगी, तो वो किसी भी नियम या बंधन को ताक पर रखकर बेटिकट यात्रा कर लेगा। टिकट इतने सस्ते हैं और यदि प्लैटफॉर्म पर खड़े-खड़े टिकट खरीदी जा सकती हो, तो बहुत कम ही लोग ऐसे होंगे जो टिकट नहीं खरीदेंगे। मुंबई में अधिकांश लोग लंबी कतारों की वजह से बेटिकट यात्रा करते हैं।

MUMBAI: In an embarrassing breach of security, two expensive cellphones belonging to senior public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam were nicked from, literally, under the noses of his five security guards as they all slept on a train.
Nikam enjoys Z plus security since 2009 when he first represented the state in the 26/11 terror case. It means that when he travels by train, he is accompanied by his personal security guard armed with an AK-47, and railways provides four constables, two each at the entry exit of the coach he is travelling in.

had kept the phones under his pillow during an overnight journey. A theft case has been filed by Jalgaon railway police and the railway crime branch has started a parallel probe. According to the FIR, Nikam left for his hometown in Jalgaon as usual on Friday after attending to cases in Mumbai. He boarded the A1 AC three-tier coach of the Dadar-Amritsar Pathankot Express at Dadar at 11.45pm. He was awake till Kalyan Junction and then dozed off.When he awoke at 5am at Pochora, one hour before Jalgaon, he slipped his hand under his pillow and reached for his cellphones. He could find none.
He immediately called his personal security officer and a guard sleeping on the next berth. They tried calling his numbers, but the phones were switched off. The trio hunted for the phones in the compartment, but to no avail.
After getting off at Jalgaon, Nikam and his guards approached the railway police and lodged a complaint.
Nikam could not be reached for comment.

औरंगाबाद: जनशताब्दी एक्स्प्रेस आता जालन्याऐवजी परभणी येथून सुटणार आहे. नांदेड रेल्वे प्रशासनाने केंद्राकडे प्रस्ताव पाठवला असून, त्यास लवकरच मंजुरी मिळेल, अशी माहिती विभागीय व्यवस्थापक डॉ. ए. के. सिन्हा यांनी दिली. सहा वर्षांपासून औरंगाबाद रेल्वेस्थानकावरून सुटणारी ही रेल्वेगाडी एप्रिल २०१५ पासून जालना येथून सुटत आहे. आता तिचे परभणीपर्यंत विस्तारीकरण होणार आहे. खासदार संजय जाधव यांनी तशी मागणी केली होती.

रावसाहेब दानवे यांनी २०१५ मध्ये जनशताब्दी एक्स्प्रेसचे जालना स्टेशनपर्यंत विस्तारीकरण केले.

आता शिवसेनेचे खासदार संजय जाधव जनशताब्दी परभणीपर्यंत घेऊन जाण्यासाठी पाठपुरावा करत आहेत. त्याला काही प्रमाणात यश आले असून नांदेड रेल्वे प्रशासनाने परभणी येथून जनशताब्दीस मान्यता दिल्यास अधिक फायदा होईल. जालना आणि परभणीपर्यंत विस्तारीकरण झाल्यामुळे औरंगाबादेतील प्रवाशांची गैरसोय होणार आहे. सध्या जनशताब्दीला ११ डबे आहेत. एका डब्यात ११४ प्रवाशांची क्षमता आहे. म्हणजेच १२५४ प्रवाशांची व्यवस्था होते. जसे रेल्वेचे विस्तारीकरण करण्यात येत आहे, त्याच प्रमाणात प्रवाशांची संख्या लक्षात घेऊन डब्यांची संख्या वाढवल्यास फायदेशीर ठरेल.

परभणी मिरखेल १७ किमी डबल लाइनचे काम पूर्ण झाले आहे. सोमवारपासून या मार्गावर रेल्वे धावण्यास सुरुवात होणार आहे. परभणी -मनमाड, डबल लाइनचे सर्वेक्षण पूर्ण करून अहवाल वरिष्ठांकडे पाठवण्यात आला आहे. त्यासही मान्यता मिळेल, असे सिन्हा यांनी सांगितले.

For the second consecutive year, none of Mumbai’s eight busiest stations made it to the list of India’s 10 cleanest stations. Bandra station, however, managed to grab the 15th spot in the Indian Railways’ cleanliness survey.
Pune station fared better and ranked nine among the A1 category of the list released by railway minister Suresh Prabhu in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Last year, Pune ranked 75 while Bandra stood at 60.

Eight ‘A1 and A’ stations on the Mumbai suburban network were surveyed.
The A1 category stations were CST, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Mumbai Central, Bandra station and Kalyan.
Panvel was the only ‘A category’ station.
Mumbai Central had emerged as the cleanest among the eight stations in 2016 but this it slipped to 27 while Surat station on the Western Railway which had topped the A1 category last year, fell to 26 this time.
Among the 407 stations surveyed across the country, Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh ranked first among the A1 category stations, while Beas in Punjab topped the A category stations.
The environment and housekeeping management directorate of the Railway board has commissioned the survey under the Swatch Rail Swatch Bharat mission last year.
According to railway sources, Indian railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) outsourced the
survey to a third party agency — Quality Council of India (QCI).
“The stations were ranked according to their cleanliness in parking, main entry area, main platform and waiting rooms. The agency visited the stations to gauge their cleanliness and took into account passenger feedback,” the railway’s release stated.
It added, “A 24x7 control room was set up and images were geo-tagged to monitor progress.”
Railway sources said that among the 17 zonal railways, CR and WR ranked 3rd and 6th respectively on cleanliness.

stations clean due to above facts and a very large footfall mainly due to large number of suburban paxs.
* Mumbai is continuously losing its status at national as well as international level due to lack of investment in its infrastructure and gradually getting more and more crowded much beyond the level of sustainability. Lack of fast and convenient mode of transport is one of the main reason, the populace is not getting disbursed enough.
* Two pronged approach required,
1- develop the adjoining areas and give faster and extended suburban rail/ metro commuting facility
2- develop the nearby cities and give fast train commuting facility (160-200 kmph) very much like Rapid Rail Transport being planned to connect nearby cities like Alwar, Meerut, Panipat, etc with Delhi.
* ----STRENGTHENING SUBURBAN RAIL/ METRO TRANSPORT----
It is necessary to develop adjoining area like Vasai, Virar and beyond, Beyond Kalyan, Navi Mumbai etc to reduce the crowding in Mumbai.
Fast tracking of following projects essential to develop these suburbs which can act as counter magnets and decongest the Mumbai
Following are som of the important additions rquired in this respect:
1- Virar-Dahanu-Quadrupling,
2- Six tracking of BCT-VR,
3- Six tracking of CSTM-Kalyan,
4- Quadrupling CSTM-Panvel harbour route
5- Tripling/Quadrupling of Kalyan-Kasara, Kalyan-Khopoli
6- New corridors like Virai-VasaiRd-Panvel-Alibaug (a planned project) etc
*------- DEVELOPING RAPID RAIL TRANSPORT TO NEARBY CITIES ----
Rapid rail transport @ 180-200 kmph shall make the cities in 200-250km range shall act as counter magnet to Mumbai Metro so that Population growth takes place in these cities and new nodes may be developed enroute to absorb the future population growth in the Mumbai Region. A combination of level tracks, elevated tracks and tunnels may be required to keep the distances and hence commuting times to lower side, to make the scheme successful.
Following could be some of the options
1- Mumbai-Pune (150km) (Future extension to Solapur 400-Secunderabad750)
2- Mumbai-Nashik(175km) (Future extension to Malegaon250-Dhule-Indore550-BPL725)
3- Mumbai-Aurangabad (250km) (Future extension to NGP750)
4- Mumbai-Ahmednagar(200km)
5- Mumbai-Vapi(150km) (Future extension to ST250-BRC400-ADI500)
Above BG RRT rail of Mumbai, and similar ones from other metro like Delhi, Kolkata, Banglore, Chennai etc can later be extended step by step, in long run, to become a unified nationwide network of SHS trains.
