GUWAHATI, Nov 10: Announcing a slew of steps for rapid and large scale development of rail connectivity in the Northeastern region, Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu on Thursday announced a Rs 5,000 crore joint venture with Assam government to construct four elevated railway tracks between Kamakhya and New Guwahati to eliminate 12 level crossing gates in Guwahati city.
Foundation done for Doubling of New Bongaigaon - Goalpara- Kamakhya and electrification of Raninagar Jalpaiguri- New Bongaigaon - Rangia _ Guwahati done yesterday.
5,000 crore for a project just to eliminate 12 level crossings between Kamakhya and New Guwahati appears to be a very high amount. Many questions arise
Does it include development of GHY RS into international standards?
If not, then spending such a huge amount, what shall be benefits? shall they justify the heavy investment?
Else splurging such a huge amount is surprising, especially when
