Trains from Hubballi to Varanasi, Mysuru to be introduced
Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha has promised to consider favourably a demand for introducing a train between Hubballi and Mangaluru to provide connectivity between the coastal and interior regions of Karnataka.
Replying to a demand by Pralhad Joshi, MP, at a ceremony to release a stamp brought out by the India Post to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the saint Hanagal Kumaraswamy here on Friday, Mr. Manoj Sinha said that he would try his best to consider this demand and see

that a train was run between these two cities of the State.
Saying that this demand had been made by people of this region as well as that of the coastal belt, Mr. Joshi said that Hubballi was already connected with Mysuru and Bengaluru by train and the department of Railways has also fulfilled the demand for introducing new trains to Varanasi and Mysuru.
He has also urged the Minister to consider another demand for introducing the train between Hubballi and Mangaluru.
Later, Mr. Joshi told The Hindu that he had briefed the Minister regarding the need for running a train between Hubballi and Mangaluru via Arsikere junction.
Earlier, a train was running between Mangaluru and Miraj via Hubballi and it was stopped during the gauge conversion works. The Minister has been urged to reintroduce this train.
Later, this train could be diverted via Ankola once the works of laying a railway track between Hubballi and Ankola was completed.
Mr. Joshi also announced on this occasion that the Ministry of Railways has fulfilled the demand for providing a train between Hubballi and Varanasi (Kashi) and a day train between Hubballi and Mysuru. Both of these trains would be flagged off at a function to be held here on May 23, he said.

But that has worst timings from YPR to UBL, BGM. I think even people who want to go to BGM dont catch it as it starts very early & it takes too much time.
There used to be a Suvidha Spl which used to depart YPR at 20:45, UBL-5:00, BGM-7:45, that should be regularised.

Also the only reliable train on Sundays from BGM, UBL to SBC is RC, KSK sometimes gets delayed. & Fridays from SBC to UBL/BGM the only train present is RC in the night, getting ticket in Vasco exp is too difficult and it doesn't go till BGM.
SWR has to run a daily SF with timings similar to:
YPR-21:00
UBL-5:00
BGM-

7:30
Return: BGM- 19:00
UBL-21:30
YPR/SBC-5:30
But return will clash its timings with KSK, RC.

REC not convinced about need for forestland diversion; Railways asked to re-enumerate trees to be chopped
Environmentalists can breathe a sigh of relief, but those seeking better connectivity to the coast may have to wait a while longer. For, the Railways proposal for a Hubballi-Ankola line through the Western Ghats has been sent back.
The Regional Empowered Committee (REC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), which met on May 5, has said it is “not yet convinced” about the need to divert 595.64 hectares (5.95 sq. km) of pristine

land for the much-delayed railway project. An expert committee set up by the REC had visited the site and raised questions about the viability of the project and its environmental impact.
On May 5, the REC, chaired by Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF-Central) M.R.G. Reddy, said a detailed presentation has to be prepared by South Western Railway covering technical, financial, ecological and hydrological aspects. This includes detailed cost-benefit analysis, including the cost for transport through alternative routes. It said re-enumeration, with GPS, is required of the more than 2 lakh trees that will be chopped trees in the proposed project area.
The expert committee felt the proposal was not justified as it was initially mooted for transportation of iron and manganese ore. The panel also raised questions about National Highway 63 not being used to its full capacity. It said implementation of the rail project would fragment the forest, making the existing wildlife vulnerable to vehicles and poachers.
The lack of plans for land use on railway stations also irked the expert committee. “If Railways is particular about this project, they should go for tunnelling from Kalaghatagi to Navalgadde village of Ankola range. At every station proposed, there should be proper barricading to prevent any illicit activities in the forest area,” the committee said.
The REC has asked the State government whether it prefers the unbroken revenue lands of Kudremukh project (around 2,500 acres) or the degraded forestland for taking up compensatory afforestation — as mandated when executing this project.
The project process stretches to more than a decade ago. In 2004, a request for diversion of 965 hectares was rejected by the MoEF&CC. Two years later, environment organisations approached the Central Empowered Committee, which recommended that the proposal not be considered. The case went to the National Green Tribunal, New Delhi, which in 2016 passed an order in favour of the Railways. Subsequently, the REC was approached with a fresh proposal on October 24, 2016.

If talguppa line goes towards siddapura/sirsi then definitely it will join bit more ahead to yellapura, which is part of hubballi-ankola line(non forest area).
So at-least if we not get line through western ghats, this will work to connect Shivamogga-Sagara-Talguppa-Sirsi-Yellapura-Hubbal li.

The 12-year-old demand at last came true and the service is expected to start from May 13
A 12-year dream of employees in the garment & manufacturing industries and unorganised sector workers for an express train between Bengaluru and Mysuru will be a reality later this month. The new train is likely to be inaugurated on May 13.
The dream comes true through a shadow path train of Chamundi Express which will connect Hubbali and Mysuru via Tumakuru and Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Bengaluru City Station.
The

train has been conceived to provide more luxury to the workers with 18+2 stateof-the-art, swanky coaches, and called Deen Dayalu coaches, specially meant for general class compartments. The up and down trains will run between Hubbali and Mysuru South (Ashokapuram Railway Station) and are expected halt for 15 minutes at Mysuru Railway station for passengers.
The train that starts from Hubbali reaches Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Bengaluru City Station via Tumakuru route at 5.45 pm, which later leaves for Mysuru at 5.50 pm, reaching there at 8.40 pm. The Mysuru-Hubbali train will leave Mysuru at 6 am, KSR Bengaluru Station at 8.45 am and leave for Hubbali at 8.50 am. The schedule of the train will ease the working passengers to commute conveniently to reach their workplaces in Bengaluru on time. The allotment of project was pending before the ministry for the last 12 years and was approved by the railway board only last year. Prathap Simha, member of Parliament of Mysuru-Kodagu constituency on Monday had taken to Twitter demanding that railway minister Suresh Prabhu look into the issue. Addressing his tweet to Prabhu, Simha said: “Sir, u responded 2 Odisha CM in 3 mins. But my proposal was approved by railway board in last july, still waiting 4 d rakes! Alas!“ Simha told Bangalore Mirror, “I have already received a positive response from the minister (railways minister Suresh Prabhu). The trains will run between these two cities within this month. But I am trying to inaugurate it before May 13. If everything goes as per plan, the passengers may commute before the first half of this month.“
Railway activist Sanjeev Dharmannavar told this paper, “This train is going to help reduce traffic especially between Bidadi and Tumakuru for those labourers working in unorganised sector. During the morning hours, there were no trains other than Intercity and Janshathabdi. So this will help the public.“
Speaking about the significance of the train schedule, he said, “Especially, the train timings are made sensibly. There were already two trains from Bengaluru running towards Mysuru at 6.15 pm and 6.45 pm, which were always overcrowded. But now people have the choice at 5.50 pm which will help them to commute and it will eventually reduce the congestion in trains.“

"I am trying to inaugurate it before May 13." --- above post. ashokapuram is just a nearby station to MYS right, so they would have no issues. or for inaugural it maybe MYS, later regular run ashokapuram.
