A large number of goods trains carrying coal to powerhouses would also be affected as primacy would be given to running of express and passenger trains.

Bhubaneswar : Heavy downpour in the state over the past 48 hours has led to disruption of train services.Overflowing flood water on the railway track between Ichhapuram and Jhadupudi stations in the Berhampur-Palasa rail section has disrupted train services between Khurda Road and Vizianagaram since last evening.Consequently, more than 30 long-distance trains have been diverted and some other trains have been short terminated, rescheduled and partially cancelled.East Coast Railway officials said water level had reached the danger level at several railway bridges leading to diversion of long-distance trains via Angul, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Vizianagram.“We are forced to run the traffic of both the lines on single line. If the the rain stops and water recedes tomorrow, operations would return to normal. We have deployed special patrolling teams to keep a look out for rising water levels, falling boulders and any important development that can affect the safety of the trains,” said...

Waterlogging at the maintenance yard in Puri railway station has hit the departure of trains starting from there.
“We reached Bhubaneswar station at 3pm because Konark Express was scheduled to leave at 3.15 pm. But we were informed that the train would only depart at 11.30pm. The rain was so heavy that we had no option but to wait,” said Sumit Singh, a passenger.
