Allotment of land for a carshed for the ambitious Seawoods-Uran line project has led to a tussle between the various authorities governing the project. Officials from the Central Railway (CR) have claimed that while they had marked a site suitable for the carshed in the project plan, the CIDCO is offering a plot far away. The project is a joint venture between the City Industrial and Development Corporation (CIDCO), the state government and the CR. It seeks to directly link Uran town, Jawaharlal Nehru Port and the newly developed areas of Mumbai, including the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The 22.5-km line will have 10 stations — Seawoods, Sarsangam, Targhatr, Bamandongri, Kharkopar, Gavar, Ranjanpada, Nhava Sheva, Dronagiri and Uran. According to railway sources, while the CR was hopeful of being allotted almost 30 acres of land close to the Ranjanpada station for the carshed, the CIDCO has raised concerns on this.

the initial planning stages, acquiring space around Ranajan-pada for the carshed was decided upon. We will need to stable at least 15 rakes in the shed, out of which at least 10 are expected to be on the line. The location is strategic as it will enable us to easily put the rakes on tracks and also offer convenient commute for the staff who will work on the line,” said a senior CR official. To discuss land allotment concerns, the CR has been in talks with the state and the CIDCO. The CIDCO has given them the options of stabling the rakes at either the Sanpada carshed or at one proposed to be built in Mohape, CR officials said.
“The Sanpada carshed already manages stabling of many rakes for the harbour and the trans-harbour line section. The proposed plot at Mohape is very far from the Seawoods-Uran line. Bringing rakes and inviting workforce to attend operations at the shed could become difficult,” the official added. Land acquisition problems beyond Kharkopar on the Seawoods-Uran line has already long delayed the project. However, efforts to find a land for the carshed is on, officials said.
“CIDCO has no land available around the Ranjanpada station for a carshed. However, since the past three-four days, options are being looked into to provide a plot nearby. We will figure out a possible space for this carshed in the future, as acquiring land for running services forms a priority. It is too early to even comment on allotment for the Seawoods-Uran project,” said a railway official working closely with CIDCO on the project.
The Mohape plot has already been proposed as a site for a carshed for the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation’s (MRVC) Karjat-Panvel project, which would help connect Karjat to Navi Mumbai without a switch at Thane station.The shed will also help in stabling rakes for the proposed Virar-Vasai-Panvel suburban corridor.
“Planning for the Mohape carshed is at an initial stage, and we are still deciding on its possible usage. Though the shed is basically expected to be built stage-wise according to requirement, it will have an initial capacity to park 60 rakes at least. Also, as we do not have a say in the Ranjanpada planning or the Uran project, we will participate if asked,” said a senior MRVC official.

Location of carshed is very important issue for the operational feasibility/ convenience, as large numbers of rakes are deployed to operate hundreds of services on the suburban/metro route. Issue of identification of plot for the car shed must have been decided before starting of the project.

MUMBAI: The Central Railway (CR) on Sunday successfully conducted speed trial for trains to run at 120 kmph on a stretch between Karjat and Neral stations. Officials said this was to ensure that the tracks could withstand the running of high-speed trains in near future. Trains to Pune and south India ply along this corridor.
"The trial was successful and the tracks were found to be in good condition," a senior official said, adding that at present trains run at a maximum speed of 100-110 kmph on this section.

The team also conducted inspections of the bridges and tunnels on the Mumbai-Pune route. Recently, a gangman was crushed to death by a boulder while three more persons were injured at Monkey Hill railway station on Mumbai-Pune route. Sources said the railways has been sensitizing the gangmen and asking them to take precautionary measures to prevent mishaps.
Another senior official sa id, "The inspections were conducted randomly and all safety parameters were adhered to."
The team also laid special emphasis on track inspection along the route --Neral to Lonavla.Similar inspections were recently carried out along the entire suburban section following incidents of unscrupulous elements trying to sabotage train services by keeping rail piece or a rods on track.

A very good step. At least beginning has been made to speed up the Mum-Pune route with one of the straight section (just 13km long between Karjat and Neral stations) of curves & EMU ridden Mum/Kalyan-Pune section. The speed shall be 120kmph on the route against earlier 100/110. In fact all the straighter sections of the route should be made 130 kmph.

of traction change (at Pune) in future when CSTM-MAS is electrified. As a result, an appreciable reduction in the timings of express trains to clear Mum-Pune stretch have been achieved in last few years.

The present step is a nice beginning towards further reduction in journey time on Mumbai & Pune high traffic route in future. Vast portion of Mumbai-Pune traffic is presently on road due to shorter distance and comparable/ lesser timing & more convenience of pickup and drop points. If IR can reduce the Mum-Pune distance substantially, IR could attract the traffic from road.
Steps to achieve higher speed, lesser journey time, and to attract a huge quantum of traffic from buses or taxi/private vehicles:
(1) Dc to ac conversion- done and benefits reaped
(2) Speeding up from 100/110kmph to 120/130 kmph-steps initiated
(3) Straightening of the curves & flattening of gradients through construction of straighter, flatter and much shorter path bye pass line (fit for 160+ kmph train) across the ghat & other curvy sections.
(4) Upgrading the remaining part from 130kmph to 160+ kmph so that a non stop CSTM-PUNE train may take around 1:30 hrs.

लोणावळा : पुणे-मुंबई लोहमार्गावर अप मार्गावर खंडाळा घाटातील मंकी हिल व नागनाथ बोगद्याजवळील बोगदा क्रमांक सहाच्या तोंडावर दरड कोसळून झालेल्या दुर्घटनेत एका रेल्वे कर्मचाऱ्याचा जागीच मृत्यू झाला असून, सात कर्मचारी जखमी झाले आहेत. यामध्ये रेल्वेच्या पाच कंत्राटी व दोन कायम कर्मचाऱ्यांचा समावेश आहे. दोन जखमी कर्मचाऱ्यांची प्रकृती चिंताजनक आहे. या घटनेनंतर रेल्वे वाहतूक पर्यायी मार्गाने वळविण्यात आल्याने रेल्वेसेवेवर कोणताही परिणाम झाला नाही.

ALMOST 163 local train services were cancelled and many delayed on Central Railway after five coaches of a Kurla-Ambernath local train derailed near Vitthalwadi station at 5.53 on Thursday morning. While no passenger was injured, services in the down direction beyond Karjat station were suspended till evening.
Five coaches of the Kurla-Ambarnath local derailed on the down line between Kalyan and Vithalwadi stations between Kalyan-Karjat section of Central Railway. It resulted in disruption of train services between the sections while the up services resumed by noon.

MUMBAI: In sleepy hamlets, fishing villages and traditional gaothans in Bhayander and Vasai-Virar on the outskirts of Mumbai, a wave of resentment is spreading among local residents.
The trigger for the resentment is the draft regional plan issued by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which envisages urbanisation in no-development zones, hazardous industries in green zone belts and multi-storey buildings around traditional gaothan villages. The total investment is a whopping Rs 1.14 lakh crore for road, rail and infrastructure projects over the next two decades.

their objections and suggestions to the authority, locals said the draft plan will have “serious’’ repercussions on their region, which provides flowers, fruits and vegetables to Mumbai.
The MMR region extends over an area of 4,311 sq km and covers entire Mumbai and parts of Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts. Areas include Vasai-Virar, Karjat, Khopoli, Ulhasnagar, Kulgaon-Badlapur, Uran and Navi Mumbai, with a population of around 22 million.
The draft plan (2016-2036) was published by MMRDA last September, but most residents remained clueless about it until now.
Since last month, over a dozen protest rallies have been held organized by local civic groups. Last week, around 3,000 residents gathered for a meeting held in the vast complex of a 400-year-old Portuguese church in Uttan, Bhayander.
Samir Vartak, a former zilla parishad member, said 13,000 objection forms were distributed to villagers in the last one month. “The locals are still not aware about the proposed development,’’ he said.
Tony Dabre, ex-sarpanch of Vagholi village, said, “People are angry. The government is trying to impose a plan the locals don’t want.’’ Environmental activist from Vasai, Father Francis D’Britto recently formed an environment protection committee to counter the new plan.
According to the draft plan, industrial development will be allowed on land parcels of 10 hectares (25 acres) or above in green zone I. Moreover, buildings 15 metres tall (about three to four floors) will be allowed in such zones.
A buffer zone of just 30 metres has been proposed from the edge of forest zones and water bodies.
Buildings with “low heights’’ will be permitted in the Matheran foothills area, which has been earmarked as an “institutional zone’’.
“The Matheran hills are encircled with the proposed multi-modal corridor connecting Virar to Alibag and the Central Railway line. In order to maintain a buffer between the hills and the encircling transport network, institutional zone is proposed with low-rise development and large-scale developments which will not require further road networks,’’ said the report.
In gaothans which have bungalows and one-storeyed houses in narrow lanes, the MMRDA has proposed a height of 24m (about seven floors) as part of its Gaothan Expansion Scheme. Such structures will be permitted 200m from the boundary of the gaothans. Four growth centres have been identified across the region to create employment opportunities in the tertiary sector. These are pockets of 5 to 13 sq km each in Vasai, Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Panvel tehsils.
In all, the new plan has earmarked an area of 1070.08 sq km as “urbanisable zone’’.
“To attract industrial development, industries are proposed to be freely permitted in the Urbanisable Zone and Green Zone. Seven pockets of land are identified in Virar, Bhiwandi, Taloja, Khalapur, on both sides of Amba River, and Khopta for industrial development. These pockets total an area of 78.06 sq km,’’ said the draft report.

It is seen that the authorities many times turn blind eye to the environmental degradation due to a developmental projects like new factory/residential/commercial/road/railwayline.
On the other hand there are many organisations (often with vsted interests) alway oppose any development tooth and nail and at the same time want aid/help from govt.

MUMBAI: After a gap of eight years, the city has received sanction for new suburban railway lines, which will expand and improve the rail network in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
On Wednesday the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) III, which envisions expanding the network up to Karjat and Dahanu upgrading suburban train system received a much-awaited clearance from expanded board of railways (EBR), which comprises senior officials from Railways, NITI Ayog and ministry of finance and ministry of statistics and programme implementation.

21 व्या शतकात भारतीय रेल्वे बुलेट ट्रेनचे स्वप्न बघत आहेत. मात्र ज्या अभियंत्यांच्या जीवावर हे स्वप्न रेल्वे बघत आहे त्यांना मात्र रेल्वेने वार्‍यावर सोडल्याचे दिसून येत आहे. रेल्वे अभियंत्यांच्या मागणीकडे रेल्वे प्रशासन आणि रेल्वे मंत्री दुर्लक्ष करत असून या अभियंत्यांच्या मागण्या जर लवकरात लवकर पूर्ण नाही केल्या तर हे अभियंते वेगळ्या पद्धतीने आंदोलन करून रेल्वे बंद करण्याच्या पवित्र्यात असल्याचे अखिल भारतीय रेल अभियंता महासंघाचे अध्यक्ष संजीव कुमार आणि महासचिव ए.के. त्यागी यांनी रेल्वेला इशारा दिला आहे. आदोलनाचे केंद्रबिंदू हे मुंबई असेल, असा इशाराही सेन्ट्रल रेल्वे अभियंता असोसिएशनचे विभागीय सचिव जे . के. सिंह व विभागीय सचिव वी.के. शुक्ला यांनी दिला आहे. संपूर्ण भारतात सतरा विभाग मिळून रेल्वेमध्ये ऐंशी हजार अभियंते कार्यरत आहेत आणि या अभियंत्यांना जाणूनबुजून रेल्वेकडून वेठीस धरण्यात येत आहे. वास्तविक या अभियंत्यांमुळे पूर्ण भारतातील रेल्वे चालत आहे पण ज्यांच्यामुळे ही रेल्वे चालू आहे त्यांच्या समस्यांकडे रेल्वे प्रशासन दुर्लक्ष करत आहे.रेल्वेची तांत्रिकदृष्ट्या...

सुरक्षा करणे आणि भारतीय रेल्वेची छबी सुधारणे आणि जागतिक दर्जा प्राप्त करण्यासाठी हे अभियंते अहोरात्र प्रयत्न करत आहेत पण यांच्या मागण्यांकडे रेल्वे मंत्री आणि रेल्वे प्रशासन लक्ष देत नाही. रेल्वेमध्ये सर्व इतर खात्यातील कर्मचार्‍यांना आमच्यापेक्षा जास्त पगारवाढ दिली जाते असाही आरोप हे अभियंते करत आहेत.रेल्वे बोर्डाने खलाशी यांना ग्रुप सीमध्ये टाकून अभियंत्यांच्या बरोबरमध्ये आणून ठेवले आहे.हे अभियंते एकदा रेल्वेमध्ये ज्या पोस्टवर भारती होतात त्याच पोस्ट आणि पे ग्रेडवर त्यांना निवृत व्हावे लागते.परंतु इतर रेल्वे कर्मचारी यांना सतत बढती भेटत असते आणि पे ग्रेड वाढत असते.त्यामुळे आम्हाला पगारवाढ मिळावी आणि आम्हाला आमच्या कामामध्ये समाधान मिळावे ही एक मागणी या अभियंत्यांची आहे तसेच आमच्या ऑल इंडिया रेल्वे अभियंता असोसिएशनला मान्यता देण्यात यावी तसेच आम्हाला तीस टक्के अलाउन्स वाढून भेटावा अशी मागणी या अभियंत्यांकडून करण्यात येत आहे. या संघटनेची एक सभा नुकतीच झाली. या सभेमध्ये सेन्ट्रल रेल्वे अभियंता असोसिएशनचे महासचिव जे. के. सिंह, अध्यक्ष डी पी सिंह, ए के सिंह,विनोद प्रसाद,बिस्वास माकाल्गिरी, वी के सक्सेना हे उपस्थित होते. या अभियंत्यांची अशीही मागणी आहे की, रेल्वे मंत्री ट्वीटरवर आणि मिडियासमोर रेल्वेसंबंधी नवनवीन योजना घोषणा करतात पण ह्या योजना प्रत्यक्षात आम्ही पूर्ण करतो पण या योजना पूर्ण करण्यासाठी जी सामुग्री लागते ती सुध्दा आम्हाला पूर्ण भेटत नाही. असेल त्या सामनासहित आम्ही रेल्वेची दुरुस्ती करत असतो. उपलब्ध असलेल्या सामानातून रेल्वे डब्याची दुरुस्ती करण्यासाठी आम्ही आमचे कौशल्य पणाला लावतो आणि एखादी ट्रेन आम्ही यार्डातून दुरुस्त केल्यानंतर 3500 कि. मी. चालेपर्यंत त्या ट्रेनला काही अपघात झाला तर आम्हाला जबाबदार धरले जाते. आमच्या जीवावर रेल्वे बुलेट ट्रेनची स्वप्न बघत आहे पण सध्या चालू असलेल्या ट्रेन ह्या कामचलाऊ असताना बुलेट ट्रेनची खोटी स्वप्ने रेल्वे बोर्ड हे जनतेला दाखवत आहे. अभियंत्यांच्या या मागण्यांसाठी आतापर्यंत 110 खासदारांनी गेल्या दहा वर्षापासून संसदेत प्रश्‍न उपस्थित केले आहेत पण काही हालचाल होत नाही, त्यामुळे आता आम्हाला आमच्या मागण्या रेल्वे बंद करूनच पूर्ण कराव्या लागतील आणि आम्ही ह्याची सुरवात मुंबईपासूनच करू असा इशारा अभियंत्यांनी रेल्वेला दिला आहे. -

मुंबई, दि. २७ - 'रोज मरे त्याला कोण रडे' ही उक्ती सध्या मध्य रेल्वे (म.रे) बाबतीत खरी ठरताना दिसत आहे. बुधवार रात्री सायनजवळ झालेला बिघाड, त्यानंतर काल म्हणजे गुरूवारीही वाहतूक विस्कळीत झाल्यानंतर मध्य रेल्वेवर शुक्रवारी सलग तिस-या दिवशी बिघाडाचे सत्र सुरूच आहे. मध्य रेल्वेच्या नेरळ स्थानकाजवळ सिग्नल यंत्रणेत बिघाड झाल्याने रेल्वे वाहतूक विस्कळीत झाली असून सीएसटीच्या दिशेने येणा-या गाड्या १५ ते २० मिनिटे उशीराने धावत आहेत.
पावसाला अद्याप सुरूवात झालेली नसतानाही मध्य रेल्वेचे बिघाडसत्र सुरू झाल्याने प्रवाशांना नाहक मनस्ताप सहन करावा लागत आहे. आजही सकाळी ऐन गर्दीच्या वेळेसच रेल्वे वाहतूक खोळंबल्याने कामावर जाण्यासाठी निघालेल्या चाकरमान्यांना त्रास सहन करावा लागेल असे दिसते. अनेक स्थानकांवर मोठ्या प्रमाणात गर्दी दिसत आहे.

Chaos gripped the commuters of Karjat-CST fast local as the train headed towards the yard lines instead of the scheduled halts at platform on Kalyan station on Sunday afternoon.CR official said that the scheduled arrival of Karjat-CST fast train at Kalyan is 12.51pm and departs at 12.53pmThe fast train to CST are given halts at platforms 5,6 or 7 at Kalyan.
