Booking tickets for the local Pune-Lonavala and Pune- Daund trains has become a tad bit easier, with an Android application heading to the city straight from Mumbai. The passengers can now reserve their seats from the unreserved ticketing system (UTS) app, instead of heading for booking counters which are often marred by long queues.
“The idea behind introducing this app is the reliving commuters from queues. They will simply have to download UTS developed by Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS). Upon signing up, they will have to visit the ticket window to recharge the electronic wallet with Rs 100 in order to use it,” said senior divisional commercial manager Krishnath Patil of Pune railway division.
You will have to take a paperless ticket (GPS Enabled Only) @ Sion station till DR & either take a train or get out of the station, sorry for the late response!
Central Railway will run 10 more special trains between Pune/Panvel and Zarap/Ratnagiri to clear the extra rush of passengers due to Ganapati Festival. CR has already announced running of 180 special trains for Ganapati Festival. The details of 10 more special trains are as under:
1. Pune-Zarap Special
01423 Special will leave Pune at 1845 hrs on 1.9.2016 and will arrive Zarap at 0630 hrs next day. 01424 Special will leave Zarap at 1100 hrs on2.9.2016 and will arrive Pune at 2335 hrs same day.

Pimpri Chinchwad: With the overhead electrification work nearing completion on the Pune-Daund railway line, suburban train commuters travelling to and fro between Daund and Lonavla can now look forward to travel directly between the two destinations without having to get down in Pune to change trains.
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, which is carrying out the work, has said that the overhead traction wires will be energized (25,000 volts, 50 Hz, AC) from June 30. However, EMU (electric multiple unit) rakes will start running on the Pune-Daund stretch after inspection by the railway safety commissioner is completed. This will take at least four to six months.
4 to 6 month times taken by RVNL is too much.At least 4 to 6 weeks these short of works can be commissioned effectively for the benefits of Daund to Lonavala through passenger.

Not much relief will be there to the suburban travellers unless the Pune-Lonavala third line is completed.
Good news and a ray of hope is that the rate of commissioning of capacity augmentation projects in IR have currently picked up to 8 kms per day and efforts are on to increase it to 10 kms/day.
About 300 people were booked every day in the last one year at Pune and other prominent railway stations of the division for travelling in trains without valid journey tickets.
The 1.5 lakh cases were up by almost 25% as compared to last year (2014-15) when authorities booked over 84,000 people for ticketless travel. The Rs 5.78 crore fine collected was 24% higher than last year's fine amount of Rs 4.67 crore.
Most cases of ticketless travel were registered in suburban stations between Pune-Lonavla and Pune-Daund. A large number comprised college students.
With fine also jailed for one week to 2 months.Ticketless travellers AADHAAR have to be noticed and fined have to be recorded with AADHAAR number.For Repeated ticketless travel additional fine have to be imposed with jail term.Then only these menaces reduced considerably.
Moreover for any travel in train ID Cards or its clear cut Color copy must be mandatory and so ticketless traveller may be reduced considerably.
