In a conference held in Shakti Bhavan, Jabalpur, Deadlines for Electrification were decided which is ongoing between Itarsi-Jabalpur and Jabalpur-Allahabad. The work was optimised to be completed at various sectional deadlines. Much hyped Itarsi-Jabalpur route is expected to be completed by July 2017 whereas MKP-MJG by 2016 Dec. Overall, the project was decided to conclude in March 2018 with STA-KTE being last section electrified.
Way back in about 1985, it was observed that there was only one fully electrified trunk route i.e HWH-Dhanbad-NDL in IRlys and all other electrified sections (mainly on Trunk Lines connecting 4 metros) were in small stretches of a few 100 kms. It was realized that the benefits of electrification were not being reaped by IRlys due to frequent changes of locomotive from electric to diesel and vice versa for long distance trains were leading to losses in following way:
(1) Operational problems like frequent change of crew and poorer productivity of loco pilot crew as well as poor productivity of electric locomotive to large extent and of diesel locomotive to some extent. A lot of manpower was being wasted in loco

जबलपुर। शहर से पुणे जाने और आने वाले पैसेंजर के लिए राहतभरी खबर है। पुणे स्पेशल को मार्च के बाद बंद करने के निर्णय के बाद भी पैसेंजर को फिलहाल अगले तीन माह के लिए परेशान नहीं होना पड़ेगा। रेलवे ने 4 अप्रैल से 27 जून तक जबलपुर से पुणे के लिए ग्रीष्मकालीन स्पेशल ट्रेन चलाने का निर्णय लिया है। रेलवे ने इसका शेड्यूल भी जारी कर दिया है। यह ट्रेन हर सोमवार को सुबह 6.45 पर जबलपुर से पुणे के लिए रवाना होगी। मंगलवार की सुबह 10.45 बजे पुणे से जबलपुर के लिए रवाना होगी। यह स्पेशल ट्रेन 3 माह में कुल 13 फेरे लगाएगी। इस ट्रेन में 16 कोच होंगे। इसमें एसी के 4, स्लीपर के 10 और 2 एसएलआर कोच होंगे। जबलपुर से पुणे की ट्रेन का नंबर 01656 और पुणे से जबलपुर की ट्रेन का नंबर 01655 रहेगा। शेड्यूल में किराए में परिवर्तन का जिक्र नहीं किया
nice to see the JBP-Pune will continue its run as new spl train and with a new timing from JBP but a good work by WCR to push RB to run this train as a new spl train and now this train will serve many passengers in the high rush season of summer
