GUWAHATI, Sept 4 - As part of the effort to provide better connectivity in the region and integrate the Railways with the development process of the government, the Railway Ministry has decided to fast-track projects in Assam and the Northeast, with work on double-tracking scheduled to start from next week, while sanction for a second rail bridge over the Brahmaputra river at Saraighat is also expected soon.
Addressing a press meet here today, Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain termed the doubling of railway tracks as removal of a critical bottleneck in Assam. “The rail line doubling will start from Hojai and the foundation stone will be laid on September 12 by the Chief Minister and me,” he said.

GUWAHATI, Aug 22 - The 15901/15902 Bangalore-New Tinsukia-Bangalore Weekly train will be converted to a ‘Superfast Express’ from October and its journey time will be reduced by 16 hours.
The new train'\’s number will be 22501/22502, said Northeast Frontier Railway PRO Nripen Bhattacharya.
He said that with effect from October 6, the new 22501 will depart from Bangalore every Tuesday at 3.10 am and will arrive at New Tinsukia every Thursday at 8.45 am, while from October 10, the new 22502 superfast will leave New Tinsukia every Friday at 5.55 pm and reach

GUWAHATI, Dec 30 - Northeast Frontier Railway General Manager HK Jaggi along with a team of senior officers of the Maligaon headquarters, carried out his annual inspection of the Tinsukia Division of NFR on December 29.
The General Manager’s inspection is an annual exercise where detailed technical examination of railway assets of different departments is carried out. The inspection was held in stations, staff colonies and track assets like bridges and level crossings to ensure that these are maintained in best operational condition, an official statement mentioned.
