An adult male tiger, hit by a speeding train, succumbed to injuries in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh on Friday . While forest officials are mum on the issue, residents say undue delay on part of the department's rescue team led to its death.
The tiger was found on the tracks near the mid-ghat area of Sehore district, close to Ratapani forest area, which still awaits a notification as a tiger reserve from the state government.

incident by railway authorities on Thursday. However, it took more than 24 hours for the team to reach the spot and be . gin treatment,“ said Pradeep Kumar, a local resident of Se hore. “The tiger had injuries on lower limb, which could have been treated by timely action,“ he said.
Ratapani, which recorded a population of eight breeding tigers in the area, has not yet been notified as a tiger reserve despite an in-principle approval from National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) in 2008. Ratapani is spread over 890 sqkm in Bhopal-Raisen forest division.
This is being delayed to facilitate developmental projects in the area. NHAI wants to widen the existing 46 lane NH-12 section from Bhopal to Bareli through Ratapani. TNN For the full report, log on to http:www.timesofindia.com
