The IRCTC Retiring Rooms at Madurai Junction are very exorbitant at Rs 2000 per day for 24 hours for a Non-AC Double room. This is more than the travel fare from Mumbai to Madurai. This should be reduced considerably immediately to help commuters to avail the facility.
2000? Yaar in mumbai its 1600, in bengaluru its around 700 in non ac and 1000 for suite (with ac, tv). Is the retiring room fully furnished with sofas, ac, tv? Till date best I have seen is Vadodara retiring room. No station has matched it till date.
A very well-equipped railway station in a small space.
1. An Enquiry Desk on the left of Main Entrance.
2. Retiring Room, A.C. Lounge, two Waiting Rooms all are available on Platform 1.
2. Escalators from Entrance (bypassing Main Entrance) to Platforms 2,3,4,5,6 from Foot Over-Bridge on Northern Side.

Alight here to visit the queen of hill stations - Kodaikanal. Better bus & train connectivity to n from uphill than Kodaikanal Road Rly Station.
All trains halt here. One can hop into a Kodaikanal bound bus at Arapalayam bus stand, around 4 kms from Railway Station.
