First Experience in 3AC Economy
Got to travel in 3AC Economy for the first time on 1st June 2024 in South Bihar Express from Raipur to Tatanagar (/pnr/post/6061416) as the tickets weren't available in 3AC. Noticed several points-
1....
more... Coach was 2022 made NR owned.
2. Interiors are appealing except the seat cover
3. Cushioning is apt, comfort is good.
4. Leg spacing has been reduced by some inches, which may not be a problem if your legs are not long enough or you can keep your legs restricted. My height is long enough but the passenger in front of me kept his legs on the seat so it was not an issue for me.
5. Bottle holders are a new innovation. But the problem is that these holders are made of plastic and can be easily broken with some force. Another problem is that for lower seat passengers, the bottle holders will bump the heads of passengers if they sleep keeping their heads towards the window (which happens to be my allotted seat).
6. Seat widths are reduced, but not an issue for me due to my width😝
7. The entry gate inside the coach was sliding gate, unlike pushing gate in most 3AC coaches.
8. 2 charging sockets per 8 passengers is what I found very awful.
9. 2 charging sockets, so two plastic mobile holders. And lo, both were broken.
10. Reading lamps were all in working condition.
11. AC Vent is at the ceiling and as well as small vents are given for all seats. The vents were broken and very less cool air was coming out of the vent.
12. Most awful is the climbing stairs. 3 steps for Middle and Upper berths, and 2 for Side Upper berth. Anyone can easily fall from the stairs.
13. Upper berth passengers have a hard time trying to sit on the berth.
14. Handles are present on both sides for assisting the passengers of upper berth to climb to their respective seats.

Travelled on the South Bihar Express from Raipur to Tatanagar on 1st June 2024 as 3AC tix were sold out. Here's what I noticed:
1. Coach was from 2022, owned by NR.
2. Interiors were pretty cool, except for the seat covers.
3. Cushions were comfy, good feel.
4. Leg space got a bit tight, but no biggie for me cuz I'm not too tall. Person in front had their legs up, so it didn't bother me.
5. They had these new bottle holders, but they're flimsy plastic that can break easily. Plus, if you're on a lower seat and lean against the window, they might bump your head (that was my seat 🤪).
6. Seats were narrower, but I'm good with that😝
7. The entry gate slid open, not like usual push to open ones in most 3AC coaches.
8. Just 2 charging points for 8 seats, awful, man.
9. Both chargers were busted, what luck!
10. Reading lights were all good.
11. AC vent was up high, with small vents for each seat. But they were damaged, so less cool air.
12. Climbing to the berths was a mission. 3 steps for Middle and Upper, 2 for Side Upper. Easy to fall!
13. Upper berth folks struggled to sit up there.
14. Handles on both sides helped upstairs passengers get to their seats.
