SRC CDO does the maintainance of rakes very poorly, specially the Toilets of coaches of trains of SRC CDO is in very bad condition in almost 80%of coaches.
New depot at Shalimar is getting ready, don't know how will they do because Vande Bharat trains will be started soon and interior cleaning of VB rakes must be good.

SRC maintenance is nearly good for short distance Intercity trains. Never had to travel in long distance trains maintained by SRC except Gitanjali in its ICF days. Had a mixed experience of cleanliness.

Introduced by Indian Railways on March 6 in 1977, the Coromandel Express runs at a speed of 130 km/hr and covers a distance of 1659 kms between Shalimar railway station, West Bengal, and Chennai Central railway station, Tamil Nadu in 25 hrs and 30 minutes.05-Jun-2023

Coromondal exp started with diesel engine I'n 1977. Chennai Howrah mail is running in 1937 itself as said by the father who studied in history book of my grand father.

Great ,there was one more train from hwh to Chennai , named as Janta express
Now discontinued. Had opportunity to travel in that train long ago ( 1973 perhaps) in First class
Bsb to hwh in 6 up Punjab mail ,HWH to mas in janta express.Mail my dad could not get berth.

Howrah Chennai Jonathan express destination changed to Tirupati when coromondal express is introduced and diverted via Bhinavaram when Guage conversion completed in late 1970s. After HWH yesvantpur express frequency increased to daily its now Tirupati Puri. The number and timings are almost same from the past 60 years 79/80.

One of biggest accident in the history of IR.
What happened to the 24 nos of coaches? Only 1 GS coach of 12864 is there in KGP Workshop.

Yup such things should never happen again . I feel sorry for 300 persons who lost their lives
I discussed the derailment issue with few persons with Railway working ( SM,Signal engineers and ALPs)

coaches derailed jumped and coro Loco hit the goods train .
Coaches in behind fell on the down line .
The train going towards hwh ( banglore howrah )was Running at 116 kmh
This train was late by few hours and it crashed in to coaches with full speed .
were LP instructed to coverup delay ??( Such things are verbal )
Certain issue will never be brought out open so that IR can escape the responsibility of safety of passengers /crew lives

A small correction.
As soon as the loco pilot pressed the emergency brake suddenly, due to high velocity of the train at 128kmph and suddenly emergency brake, the loco due to inertia of motion flied up and climbed over the freight train. As soon as the coupling with loco detached, there as a sudden jerk on LVPH Coach next to loco, it derailed and all subsequent coaches got derailed.

3rd GS coach towards the end of 12864. Due to the impact, the last 2 coaches (SLRD, GS coaches) of 12864 derailed and the 3rd coach from end was partially damaged. Due to presence of mind of locopilot of 12864, the loco pilot didn't pressed the emergency brake suddenly, so the rest of 12864 which was running at around 120kmph didn't got derailed at that spot.
Later at Balasore, the 3rd coach from end of 12864 was detached from rake. That GS coach is now at KGP workshop.
