Pic- HTE-YPR entering godavari bridge after RJY. Travelled in real Superfast train after 2 years. Last one being the journey in NZM - KOTA Janshatabdi in 2014. After that travelled in many SFs on paper but they were through Bermuda Triangle of IR, so didn't give feeling of SF during journey. So, it all started in july, 2016. asked the clerk to give SL&SU (Sleeper class). He said 71& 72 no. seats and asked should I book and I readily agreed. Booked the return ticket (BPT Udupi to Hatia via LTT) and came home. After these my part 2 exams started and finished well throughly. Now I started planning how to undertake the journey and which places to visit. Then one day on news saw the Kaveri river stir in Karnataka. I assumed something wrong might go with the trip if I go by bus from bengaluru to manipal ( my prediction was right). So without telling anyone, I booked another ticket in 16523 Bengaluru - Karwar express till Udupi from my saved pocket money. So everything was done and we were ready to depart on 11 september. At 1745 hrs we left home, and my father dropped us at Hatia RS. The train was still not shunted and PF 1 was fully crowded with passengers waiting to board. 5-8 TTEs were present at main entrance who were checking everyone's ticket before letting them go on PF. I also showed my ticket and went on the PF. The train was shunted at 1800 hrs. All gates were opened after 2-3 minutes and in another 2-3 minutes the whole PF was almost empty. Everyone got inside the train. At sharp 1825 the train departed with twin WDM from Bondamunda. Just after departure 2 enunchs came and asked for money. As usual I asked them to move away and they also went. Then we had home made dinner before arriving Rourkela and after halt at Rourkela we went to sleep. Second part to follow.
Pic- WDM hauling mangaluru kabkaputtur passenger. We (I and my mother) had got down at YPR on 13 sept from HTE-YPR SF and moved to SBC by auto due to bus strike. Took a room in hotel for a day ad rest for the day. Had lunch from Neethu's kitchen. Average food. In the evening at 1930hrs checked out from hotel and proceeded to PF 5 of SBC. The train had already been shunted on PF. The train was thoroughly clean inside out. The general coaches had some empty seats ( maybe filled by time of dep). and inserted 2 five rupee coins and filled my 2 ltr bottle. The train started at 2040 hrs, 10 min late. TTE came and put his luggage on seat 7 (my was 8). He checked the tickets and moved on to check others'. I went to my side upper to sleep. Finally woke up at 0430 hrs. Train was passing beautiful shiradi ghats. Though it was night, but the sound of train passing bridges and tunnels seemed nice to hear and slight moonlight helped in imagining beauty of western ghats. Gradually train arrived subramanya road. Here the extra engines were detachted. I got down and had tea and bun. After 15 min halt train continued its journey and after kabkaputtur stopped for crossing with mangaluru - kabkaputtur passenger. Reached MAJN and proceeded for long halt at MAQ for detatching of kannur portion. The WDP 4 left its companion and WDM 3 took charge of 16523. At 0900 hrs after long whistle, train started and again passed MAJN. was stopped at MAJN for crossing with matsyagandha exp. After departure entered beautiful Konkan railway. At SURATHKAL, we waited for LTT - KCVL SF to cross. Then again before Udupi a DEMU crossed us . After the long halt of 35 mins for crossing, departed and slowly curved on to make entry to PF 1 of Udupi and hence left us at our destination 40 min late at 1120 hrs.
After spending 2 days in Manipal, now it was time to leave for mumbai. I had a Blank paper ticket from Udupi to Hatia via LTT. So checked out of hotel at 1 pm and started for Udupi railway station. In about 20-25 mins we reached the station and after seeing coach position we moved to the platform. We were waiting, then ERS-PUNE SF came and departed after 2 min halt. After its departure On another PF came the CSTM-MAJN SF alias the rocket. It also departed after 2 min halt. Then announcement started for matsyagandha express to LTT and we moved to place where our coach was supposed to be positioned. Lots of people were waiting to board the train. 4D approaching udupi with 12620 matsyagandha express at its tow. The train came to halt and we moved towards the gate of S8. After the train departed the rains also stopped and we opened the window shutters. The train was clean. The TTE came and checked the tickets. He demanded id-card from every ticket holder whether it was PRS or e-ticket. I showed my downloaded e-aadhar and he denied saying show original. I was not in a mood to quarrel given excitement for upcoming journey in Konkan stretch. Showed him mother's voter id and continued our journey. The train crossed the stations at good speed and continued its journey. After departing from Murdeshwar, my mother pointed out to something, at first I didn't recognize but on seeing properly remembered it is the statue of lord shiva. Had distant darshan of lord shiva. Then another exciting point was when train approached the Honnavar bridge. After crossing the bridge, rains again started and we had to close the window shutters. In evening, the train approached Madgaon. The Benjoe restaurant caterers were selling diff items like biryani, chhole rice, badaam-milk, etc. After departure came the zuari river which looked magnificient in the evening. Then we had dinner and I went to sleep. In the morning I woke up when the train arrived at PEN. I started to pack my belongings, as I decided to get down at PNVL to catch local to CSTM. Got down from train at PNVL admist heavy rains and got a local train ticket. Boarded the empty slow local to CSTM. As the stations approached, local became more crowded. Despite being saturday and early morning the local was crowded beyond my expectations.
After staying for the day at CSTM dormitory and visiting GoI, museum, marine drive, in the evening we moved out of dormitory and collected luggage from cloak room. After experiencing the crowd on mumbai local in morning (PNVL-CSTM) decided to take the local that goes upto Kalyan only. But to my dismay display board showed all destinations but not Kalyan. I waited as I knew there were some locals terminating at KYN and also my connecting train was at 1am, so I was not in a hurry. I tried to connect to MTS wifi at CSTM but password was not being sent, neither could I connect to my mobile data. So waited. Finally at 2020 hrs it showed semi local to Kalyan at 2042. too much crowded. I thought the crowd would disperse at TNA, at Domvibli but no, number of people getting down was lesser than number of people boarding. So it remained crowded throughout the way till KYN. At KYN got down at PF 1 and moved to PF4 from which our train was scheduled to depart. I had 2 hours to kill so connected to RAILWIRE and enjoyed wifi access. I spent 2 hrs at KYN, and in that 2 hrs good no of trains psssed through Pf 4& 5. PF 4 handled CSTM -SUR SF, ltt rjpb exp, cstm snsi pass, kushinagar exp, ltt-ppta sf, ltt-sc drnt, cstm asr exp, etc. Pf 5 handled chennai mail, ltt cbe exp, hussain sagar, and others. PF 6 handled hwh-cstm, hw-ltt ac, ju-sbc exp. PF 5-6 handled local too. So lot of trains passed during that duration. After departure of 11057 CSTM-ASR exp, coach position of 12811 started to display. Within 10 minutes the train arrived with SRC P4 and old coaches. The gates of S12 were closed, so we didnt wait for gates to be opened and instead got in in S13 and came to our berth in S12 via vestibule. Saw the coach, and except cleanliness, nothing was good. Condition of seats, windows, lights everything was bad. Waht can you expect in coach made in 1992? No charging point, even at gates. The rains started again, and I tried to close the window. By the time I closed the window, my half sleeve of full sleeved shirt was wet along with part of my seat. Even after closing the window, water was leaking from corners of window. Fed up, I shifted my bag from under the seat to the seat. Waited sometime for TTE to check tickets. But by 2 am even tickets were not checked. I slept finally. In the morning woke up when the train reached BHUSAWAL. By the time train řeached AKOLA, train was 1 hr+ late. But after AKOLA, train was flying and as a result reached NGP at 1310 hrs i.e. 30 mins BT. We were placed on PF 6 and on PF 7 SHM-LTT waited for departure. Water was being filled in the train. On PF 4 came DNR-SC SF and after a considerable halt time departed with BSL P4. Finally we departed NGP at 1400 hrs ,dot on time. As we exited NGP, TN exp to chennai entered NGP. I was waiting for the diamond crossing but to my bad luck, just as we approached diamond crossing HWH -CSTM mail approached and finally we missed the proper view of diamond crossing. The train gained speed and ran like anything all the way till Hatia. Reached Bilaspur 10 mins BT . Again here water was filled and toilets were cleaned. The train maintained very good speed right all the way till HTE and arrived HTE at 0355 hrs, 10 min late. Excellent train and excellent speed. So with this the trip came to end.
This whole trip went very nicely and provided the trains and route associated with this trip, this trip became more special. Except the problem of enunchs and bad food in 12835 HTE-YPR SF, and old coaches in 12811 LTT-HTE SF (though 12835 had it too but condition was better than 12811) rest everything was good.
Positives and negatives of each train taken during the trip: 1. 12835 HTE- YPR SF +ves-- super punctual at destination (expect some delay till nellore or renigunta), nice speed, hardly any unscheduled stop throughout the journey, cleanliness was good. -ves --- beggars/transgenders bother whole route (expect them after every stop from as early as 3am till 8 pm), bad food, old... more...
coaches but are maintained properly. 2. 16523 SBC - KAWR express +ves --- clean train inside out, biotoilets installed, punctual till MAQ -ves -- slow speed (due to route constraints), gets late after departure from MAQ. 3. 12620 Matsyagandha express +ves -- the route that it travels through i.e. konkan route, punctual, good speed -ves--- none 4. 12811 - LTT -HTE SF +ves -- good food, punctual after akola, cleanliness is good, safety is good, RPF present all night, super speed. -ves -- old coaches without proper maintainance.
Yes should be just like it was done in previous years. Actually last year they cancelled some trains expecting fog but there were very less foggy days in last season and even if it was there, it wasn't too dense. Taking lessons, they didn't cancel this year and fog knocked the door early this year and that also in very dense form. Result is, punctual trains like HTE-LTT, HTE-YPR SF, SBC-MAS Mail, etc are running hours late due to RSA.
Or ye bi hai...rnc division ke pass rake ki kami...in case if any train gets late and that train has a rake sharing with other train...so if division have rake..so...they can send that rake...instead of that train rake....so railway should provide extra coaches to division...so that they can use that time..
Extra rake hota hai to bhi hatia mein kuch kaam ka nahi. 2014 mein 12873/74 january to february aur 2015 mein january mein cancelled thhi to extra rake hone ke kaaran, ye log weekly hatia-nagpur special chala diye thhe jo har trip mein khaali gayi thhi. Aur result wahi thha jo aaj hai. Extra rake thha phir bhi hte-ltt aur hte-ypr sf late chali thi thand mein. Isliye ye extra rake ka faayda nahi lete thhe. Haalanki wo pehle ki baat thhi, ab to DRM bhi change ho chuke hain to ho sakta thha is baar alag hota. Jo bhi thha 12873/74 ko is thand mein bhi cancel rakhte to thoda achha hota.
