2 compliments
Useful Useful
Travelled in this train in both directions from SBC-SA in 2S class, D1-D4 coaches have the pushback type seating and it felt very cramped in terms of width for me though the leg room was pretty good (me being 6.2 Ft tall guy), the D5 coach has the normal sitting coach facing each other which was much more comfortable and spacious, it had 2 charging points per bay in both the types of coaches, washrooms and toilets are decent condition OBHS were present on board and coach cleanliness was good, there were WL passengers near the doors but they didn't disturb the other passengers, there was on board catering present would strongly recommend not to purchase any kind of hot/cooked items like samosa, aloo bonda, as the vendors were not maintaining any hygiene while handling the food, tea/coffee was basically sugar water, they also do sell some packed snacks like...

chips, biscuits which can be purchased from them, punctuality is good actually was running before time when I travelled and reached on time most of the stations maintaining MPS of 110kmph constantly (unlike the SBC-DPJ-SA 80kmph MPS), overall a good option for 2S travel, and pricing is quite reasonable it's around ₹15 more than Ernakulam intercity fare, which is OK as this takes the longer Kuppam, Bangarapete route

This train does have DL1 (2S reserved) coach at the end of the train. I mean the SLR coach named as DL1. Please update this in coach position.

This coach is not interconnected with all other 2S coaches and its have very limited seating (30+ Approx.). I have seen people boarded D1 mistakenly instead of DL1. In this case they will have to wait until the next stoppage and board in to DL1.

I travelled in this train more than 4 times from CBE TO KSR AND KSR TO CBE .
A/C will be very good and coaches will be clean .. the problem is in the dining car coaches C1 , C4 , C7 only one of that coaches will have foods (i.e) knoor soup, maagi noodles cup, some packed items, tea coffee, and water bottles ... in the other two coaches there will be chairs facing the windows.. you will get a lovely view.. in the coaches wi-fi will not work , information boards will not work .. the seats will nice and the leg room is good.. if u want to eat then bring your own food , or buy from your home station..

food will not be good in the train... but the train is so punctual that it gets to its destination perfectly...TQ

Summary:
Travel on this train if and only if you have never traveled in a Double Decker train for the sake of sitting either higher or lower than conventional trains. Otherwise, don't.
Deep review:
1. Cleanliness: Coaches are rather clean but the vestibule area and washroom really stink.
2.
...
Punctuality: Punctuality is great till Tirupattur (after which it joins MAS-SBC line). Then it gets delayed till KJM. After KJM huge slack takes care of things and you reach SBC (almost) on time.
3. Food: Nothing is available for whole 7 hours of journey. Coffee machine and food vending machine are just there for show-off. No vendors. Train halts for only 2 minutes at majority of the stops. Bring your own food from home/market.
4. Ticket Availability: The best aspect of the train. You can get tickets a night before very easily. (Doesn't necessarily applies on weekends)
5. Railfanning: I travelled in C2 coach, the windows were tinted. The videos and photos that I shot had shade of yellow. The scenes were beautiful though. Watch out for hill section after Salem and then between Patchur and Mulanur. And bifurcation point after Tirupattur.
6. Safety: LHB coaches are safe. Other than reserved passengers no one enters.
7. Comfort: No comfort at all. All seats are non-reclining.

Fully agree to all your points. Travelled on 30th jan. Nothing in vending machines. Except the nice interiors and exteriors, nothing. Seating has always been point of arguement in all DD CC. Some are in favour of it while some not. I too don't find DDCC comfortable at all.
