If you have to book b/w 2A and 1A in this train, go for 2A even if it is in RAC or couple of WL. The 8 1A seats are always almost empty. Once, I saw only one seat booked, back when booking lists were pasted. When I personally traveled in 1A of this train, the person next to be had automatically been upgraded from 2A, again showing that 1A almost isn't chosen at all.

Only pillows and white sheets are provided by default in 1A. Blanket wasn't provided last time I traveled. Same goes for hand towels as well. Maybe one would need to specifically request the coach attendant for them.
I boarded this train thinking that it is a super fast from Lucknow to Delhi. I could not get a confirmed ticket. So I bought a general class ticket and hopped on the train thinking that I can get a seat once I board by paying the difference amount. I got in the train at Lucknow. The train was pretty empty till Kanpur. I got a seat till Kanpur. The ticket checker never showed up till this point.( ticket checker was never there on board as I never saw him till the train reached Delhi) At Kanpur, the train got so full that there was no space to even sit on the floor or stand comfortably. There were more people with unreserved ticket than there were with reserved tickets. Initially I thought I would be in minority as I don't have reserved ticket. But I was proved wrong. I once had a confirmed seat in AC Chair Car from Aligarh to New Delhi (The last 131 km leg). I was late and had to run to catch the train. Boarded some 2S (reserved) coach. Trust me, i could not make my way through the vestibule. Had to keep standing till the next halt.
And don't think AC Chair Car is all good. Check my /blog/post/756347 to know the reality of CC of Gomti.

The ticket checker is on board. He just never comes to the 2S coaches. That's common for many Intercity trains where the TC person confines himself to the AC coaches only.
