I travelled recently in this train between DLI to GAYA, class 2A [pls search for Trip # 100497 for further details] and here are my reviews about it, in the primary lines of speed, Punctuality, Safety, Railfanning and Cleanliness:-
Between JSM to MGS the train does an average speed of approximately 85 to 90 km/h with the upper limit increasing by 10 to 15 km/h. The MGS WDM3A does a wonderful job of hauling the 23 coach beauty, so no complaints whatsoever, however the real fun starts post MGS, when
Wow, so you wrote a summarized trip report as a tip. How was the quality of food served in this train ? I was wondering if this train is a good option to the Kalka Mail for traveling to Ghaziabad/Delhi from Howrah or not. It's good to see that the diesel performs a good speedy task between Mughalsarai and Delhi via Sultanpur - Lucknow just like the Wappie on the Grand Chord Route. I hope that it doesn't have to face overtakes by many Duronto and Rajdhani trains while traveling from KOAA to DLI/GZB :)
At the outset please accept my humble thanks to the time you actually took out to read my "Trip Summary"!!...Now coming to your thoughts:-
#1. Good Alternate to the Kalka Mail from Howrah to DLI.
Like I said before, it all depends on what is your priority; fast access to Delhi or an enjoyable journey to Delhi. If it is the
Jaideep Ji, it's my pleasure. I am ready for a travel to Delhi/Ghaziabad from Howrah by this train with my Family if it reaches at Delhi NCR in summers on time or late by a maximum of 1 to 1.5 Hours. Since it doesn't have a Pantry Car then its obvious that we would carry home cooked food along with us just like we did in Durgiana Express. I am curious to see the MB-HPU-GZB Route :)
arre, sir simply fundoo!! Even me also curious for the same.....HPU-MB-BE route, as many trains will impacted on this one, especially the 12436/12236 Raj. Lets see what happens!!
The "Gentleman" Who Planned The Schedule For This Train Should Be Privileged With "NOBLE PRIZE". This Train Passes Through The Dessert Corridor [ JU-JSM] In Darkness In Either Way.... Also Reaching JSM At Midnight [ Even If Reaches On Time] Is Weird. For Me It's Clear. If Someday I'm Traveling To JSM From Calcutta, I Will Rather Take A Flight To Delhi And Then Board MALANI Exp Which Serves My Cause
Dipanjan sir, I believe, the train was primarily targeted to ease the traffic load on primary east line from Kolkata to Delhi and vice versa and the extension from DLI to JSM, looks like an after thought to me (atleast this is clear from the time table), meaning this wasn't planned previously but railways went ahead with this extension much later, something like in the case of Avadh Assam Express from DLI to LGH. But yes the gentleman seriously deserves a noble prize for sure for the schedule planned.
No. This Train Was Declared As HWH-JSM Exp Only
This is best train for dli- jsm and runs like a beast. I am praying for past 2-3 budgets that its frequency be increased so that I can visit jsm in broad daylight en route, but its not happening
If you really plan to visit desert section en rail route then opt for dee- bkn exp at 23.30 at dee , stay there one day and next day hop on lalgarh - jsm exp at 7.00 am reaching jsm in after noon at 1.30 in broad sun shine
but iss train ko via sultanpur se chalna chahiye with electric loco
