12663 is no different from 12841 in terms of occupancy.
Not advisable to book in SL if traveling with your family in ANY TRAIN under MAS-HWH section.
The people boarding in your coach will deboard only at MS, don't misjudge by looking at the bi-weekly tag :P
Not Only HWH-MAS Section. Travelling In Sleeper Class And Even In 3A Has Become Disaster These Days, Through Out India. Even 3A Coaches Are "Privileged" With Non-Bonafied Passengers, Railway Staffs And Bla Bla Bla.... TTE In Most Trains Are Mute Spectator, Since These Population Ensure A Healthy "Pocket Money" For Them.... You Want To Travel With Family ? Book 2A Or Take A Flight
Totally agree. A family was traveling with us and when they complained this issue to the TTE , he simply said "what can i do !!". TTE in these trains are similar to an e loco in Diesel section.

in my recent travel in 19707 Our co passenger was having 1seat and many luggage, AND was not allowing us to keep our luggage, At such instant TTE was a spectator ,he could not do anything, Than i inform RPF , And told the RPF , do anything and arrange space for us, otherwise we will treat the pax. in my style, and than u will lost ur Power to take action against us, .

The power of these people varies across different sections depending on the scale of overcrowding.
In CSTM-MAS sector , the UR pax were throwed out by the SCR officials whereas it was ignored in HWH-MAS section by the same SCR zone officials.

Agreed. 3AC in the present day is just sleeper with AC. 2AC is the best option with regards to travelling with family. Quiet and safe.
SR and SCR are best in this regard. they maintain a sense of discipline against ticketless and heavy luggaged pax.
SCR i had experienced in Hussainsagar exp 12702 , for excess luggage .
Rest all zones are unable to tackle such Cases .
The best way is to first inform the RPF incharge, if they are failed to take action, than Do it yourself .

For journey <800 kms , SL can be preferred in a dedicated ONT like Godavari, Puri-HWH SF, SEB etc.

This happens like this every train bound from Bengal, Bihar . I have suffered like this incidents during 2001-2004 when i used to travel to VSKP from MAS in HWH mail, coromandel, ernakulam - patna, TVC-GWH,ERS-GWH, Even TTR can't do any thing, if he tells these persons he gets beaten. Note:-At that time there was no dedicated train to VSKP (although they introduced later)
Similar incidents occured during my Journey to MS in 2007 on JU-MS Express in 3AC , the passenger was from Falna he had 4 persons in 3AC and also his 2 workers in sleeper class, the man had called his worker from SL to his seat to sleep, but one passenger eventually complained to TTR...

Before undertaking this journey, i was thinking that only the SER giants (12839,12840,12841,12842) had this overcrowding issue in this sector but the truth is each and every train from bengal to south is running 300% of its occupancy no matter if its daily or not (in the case of SL)
For travelling to north india, better to go for 2Ac
But if u r travelling in hwh-mas section, than u can opt for 3ac also. U will not find as such unreserved passengers in 3ac in hwh-mas section. I often travel between hwh and mas in 3Ac of trains like coro, mas mail, src mas ac exp, etc, i haven't seen unreserved passengers as such in 3ac coach in hwh-mas section. Yes u may see 1 or 2 here and there but they doesn't cause any inconvenience as such

In the case of MAS-ALD/MGS/DNR , is traveling by SL a regretful decision ?
Frankly posting, it is better avoid the SL coaches to ALD,MGS,DNP
Better to avoid SL coaches for trains going to UP, bihar
If u ever spot Ernakulam Patna exp, u will see peoples literally hang from the doors of sleeper coaches just like they do in general coaches

Sir my fav train 's Coromandel. Howrah 2 Chennai it's full alwys.AC3 is crwded 2.All trns to Chennai from Howrah are full
I have travelled in coro 4times e2e, 2times in 3ac itself, Yes train do run jampacked but i haven't not find any unreserved passengers from hwh to Bza in 3ac. From Bza, some passengers do travel in 3ac upto mas but only after paying fine to TTE and getting a proper vacant seat from TTE
Why such difference here as In CSTM-MAS section they throw out UR pax but why not In MAS-HWH section? Does any profit for SCR in not doing so in that section?
In CSTM-MAS section, there may be around 100 UR pax boarding altogether but in HWH-MAS it is like 100 unauthorized pax per coach
You mean unauthirized pax are those who even dont have UR ticket with them? ticketless journey ppl?
No. Those who have it but boarding reserved coaches and deal with the TTE
SL can be bearable if railways pays some attention to the heavy boarding of WL or RAC passengers. Some Durontos also have sleepers and they are much better simply because there is no authorized passengers there
Regarding Traveling to North India, i guess South-Delhi sector is pretty safe to travel in SL.
I don't think travelling in SL will be a good experience in any north bound trains
I see. Well I do not have any experience of travelling in trains from south-north. I am speaking from my experience of travelling in trains from east-north where the SL is a disaster.
TTE simply said one thing , 'In a train where 900 SL passengers should travel there are 1500 passengers travelling and so we can't do anything ' ...
Such TTE's Should Immediately Be Suspended.... As Per Law, UR/WL Pax Can't Board Reserved Compartments. If The TTE Can't Control Them, They Are Not Fit For Job
Our Co passengers shouted that they will complain to RPF, the UR pax didn't even bother about it...it took 10 mins to Walk inside a coach from Seat number 1 to 72
Try Using Twitter. It Really Helps. I Do Use Twitter If & When I Have Issues While Traveling By Train

All these things are very limited and you should get it at the earliest. Non veg food includes Egg biriyani, Chicken Biriyani, Lunch with Fish and Omlette(for breakfast). These things are available in plenty and most of the passengers buy Non veg only.
Water bottle , Tea and Cool drinks vendor comes often and you won't get IRCTC Railneer water bottles, Snacks such as samosa ,aalo bonda available.
