One of the fact I discovered in terms of getting reserved seat with regards to 19311 Indore Pune is that kindly prefer Tatkal Ticket over General ticket if it shows RAC or WL. It has better chances of getting confirmed seat. It's very strange to find heavy RAC allotment even at very early stage.
Sleeper Class-Take special precaution for footwear near KYN...many people reported theft of footwear....

Might be a one off case where a gang of footwear thieves was active. Otherwise travelling by this train is usually a safe affair.
happened with my friends as well around 3-4 times...but yes you are right usually the travel is safe...

Karjat is GNWL as is of starting station of Pune. KYN is not GNWL

the tip is excellent, however catching the 18:53 to BSR isn't easy as 2 locals from CCG terminate at BVI at 18:46 and 18:52 respectively. Many people who travel further north use the BVI local rather than VR/BSR local for lower crowds and then change over here.
The train does not have a pantry car. The reaches Kalyan at 5.42pm and vasai at 7.50pm. Please make arrangements for your food at these stations as the next station (surat) would come at 11 in the night. Also you there is no catering service.
