There are 2 first class coaches in the train. one is F1 & other is normal first class. If you book tickets from irctc website/app, you will get seat in F1 coach. If you book current ticket at coonor station, you will get seat in other first class coach.

Several curves, bridges, oak and pine forests you'll see. There are three tunnels in Coonoor Udagamandalam stretch. If, you're in first class coach and your seat number is in between 1 to 8, then, it'll be the best for railfanning as First Class Coach is the first car of the train and Engine pushes the train from rear end.

Better to book a ticket in this train in advance. If, you are planning to buy a ticket from ONR station then, you have to wait in a queue of some 50-60 odd passengers. The counter at ONR opens at 3:30 PM. Ticketless travellers are not allowed in the platform premises after 3:50 PM. RPFs will order you to leave the platform if you have no ticket for this train after 3:50 PM.

I'll suggest you not to travel in General Class. There is too, too much crowd in the train. Better to book in First Class, or atleast in Second Seating Coach.
