It was introduced during Lalu's tenure as RM, I think. I travelled in 15203/4 Barauni Lucknow Express and it had this structure [along with some other trains] in SL coaches.
It's Side Middle Berth, it was introduced to increase the carrying capacity, most inconvenient berth, failed miserably.. Coaches that had SMB , LB was allotted for RAC with MB in folded condition !!

Somnath and Rameshwaram are such important Hindu Pilgrim centres. But there are no direct trains from Delhi to these places. Railways must run atleast weekly direct trains to these places.
