thetrainexplorer~ 3156 blog postsNR should divert the Ludhiana-Delhi Shatabdi via Dhuri , Sangrur to via Dhuri -Patiala-Rajpura. I am sure it'll pull more passengers on this route, than running with empty rakes on its present route.

On.a trial basis, they should first run a Shatabdi special with the ICF rake of ASR NDLS Weekly Shatabdi which can clear the facts about demand and patronage on that route before shifting any Shatabdi on that route.

Patiala has been rated even better than Chandigarh by senior citizens, And they prefer to stay in Patiala than Chandigarh or Ludhiana etc. Otherwise also, city's population is increasing and a lot of people like to commute via trains, then why just few mail/passenger trains ? And more over freight traffic is going to increase more as the Giderbaha Thermal Plant shall be commissioned by March 2015, and more and more coal laiden trains shall be plying on this route, as coal comes from eastern mines, so the route via West Bengal, Bihar , to Saharanpur, Ambala, Rajpura and then to Bathinda is the only route for transporting coal to these plants. Future growth is also expected in peer sector, so ultimately there is going to be immense traffic on RBR. And what abt the people of ludhiana. They would anyhow prefer 312 km journey instead of 367 km. Its better to start patiala shatabdi from patiala itself.
it would be better to start a shatabdi exp from barnala because lot of people from barnala travels to delhi .
