Sectionl speed on Aurangabad-Manmad section to increase up to 100-120 kmph. New facilities at Aurangabad Station
SCR officials today told to media that the up-gradation and strengthening work between Aurangabad- Manmad is in progress. Since number of trains running on this section is increased in resent past and more trains are proposed to run on this section, the supporting railway track must be strong enough to support high speed trains. 45km of 113km track is already upgraded. Rest of the work is going in full swing. This will increase current sectional speed in this section from 75-80 kmph to 100-120 kmph. The travel time between MMR and AWB will reduce to 1hrs to 1:15 hrs from currently 2 hrs. Goods trains also

Doubling works taken up by swr now in many stretches but it would be better if these stretches support high MPS around 120.

Actually sanctioned max speed on paper is 100 kmph but since gauge conversion in 1993, this section was very poorly maintained. It seems that now that SCR realised importance of SC-MMR section. Since last 2 yrs I am seeing that SCR taking frequent megablocks on this section to do multiple works such as construction of underpasses, construction of loop lines which support 45 kmph looping, strengthening of tacks etc. hope now this section will get justice.. :)
I also heard one member of Railway Samiti of Marathwada saying that SCR will complete upgradation work of MUE-MMR section by the Dec2014 and after that this section will see speed increase.

For PAU-AK route as per info on SCR website PAU-Hingoli sanctiond max speed is 100 kmph and Hingoli to AK is 90 kmph. News did not mentioned about PAU-AK but I think SCR in near future will take up this section also. AK-Khandwa gauge conversion is likely to gate node in coming budget. SO it seems that after gauge conversion PAU-Khandwa section will also see speed increase.
