Tirupoongur- Located just about 3 kms from Vaiteeshwaran Koil, this place is famous for the kodi maram and the nandi (Bull) not facing the lord directly in centre but shifted a few feet to their right
As per the legend , Nandanaar, a great devotee of Lord shiva was not allowed to enter into the Sanctum to worship the Lord. So he stands outside and starts singing in praise of Lord. Lord shiva on hearing this songs, instructs the nandi " Sattre Vilagiruppai pillai" (Please move a bit my child). Nandi on hearing this feels ignored in front of the Saint, angrily grinds its teeth (Generally Nandi has a closed mouth in all temples but here nandi mouth would be open with
teeth visble)
A small temple but a good place to spend some relaxed moments with the Lord. there is also a tank behind the temple which generally doesnt dry up
