CMRL.
The statutory certification of Metro System involves, Oscillation and Emergency Braking Distance (EBD) trials to be conducted by RDSO, Lucknow representing the Ministry of Railways as per the relevant provisions. The trials involve running the train in the full section of CMRL track and recording various safety and other parameters related to passenger comfort.
Accordingly, the team of RDSO headed by the Director, testing of Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) have conducted their Oscillation and Emergency Braking Distance trials during June 2014 between Koyambedu to Alandur section of corridor II of CMRL track and recordings were made.
After validation of the results obtained during the trials, RDSO has issued the Interim Speed Certificate for operation of Standard Gauge Chennai Metro Train from Koyambedu to Alandur section of Corridor II.
With completion of RDSO certification, CMRL has achieved a major milestone in the progress of the project

The services will start at the end of November as per the statements. But it is really doubtful and you can expect the full-fledged services in next year from Koyambedu (Metro train Yard) till St.Thomas Mount . The construction of the short line from St.Thomas Mount to Airport is on the rise. At present you can't go anywhere from Airport station. But you can travel till Koyambedu from St.Thomas Mount which is the nearest metro station from Airport.

I am sorry to say that integrated ticketing is not going to be a reality in the near future. Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) has been existing only for namesake and no progress has ever been made because the road transporter MTC has been very reluctant to share its space with MRTS, Metro, or the local EMU services.

Phase II is on the anvil and is estimated to cost Rs. 36,000 crore and is likely to include three corridors — Madhavaram to Light House (17 km), Koyambedu to Injambakkam (27 km) and Madhavaram to Perumbakkam (32 km).
