which would connect Malnad areas to the coast and Uttara Kannada district to Bangalore.
“Railways has already got administrative and financial clearances from the government for this line. Only forest and environment clearances are pending,” Railway Department said during an interaction with the people.
People in the state are disappointed that the railway ministry did not take up Talaguppa Honnavar line despite having all clearances ready.
Currently, road is the only means of transportation in the area, which is expensive and tedious,”

There was a proposal in the budget for Talaguppa-Siddapura line. New line from Siddapura to Yellapura via Sirsi can be thought of. Thereby, we can have lines from Hubli-Yellapura-Ankola, From Yellapura-Siddapura-Talaguppa-Shivamogga, From Shivamogga-Talaguppa-Siddapura-Honnavara....
Oh... I am imagining too much.

From Talaguppa to Honnavara, 2 roads are seen - one with 73 kms and another via Siddapura with 80 Kms. Can some one say which alignment is going to be used for proposed rly line?

Talaguppa to Honnavara Line should be via siddapur.
From Talaguppa via Jogfalls (World famous) to connect siddapura Means It should be better. Because People from out side the country they are visiting to Jog falls regularly and some movie Shooting also happening ( Recently LINGA Movie Shooting Done in Jog Rajanikanth acted) All are travelling through road transport only. If Railway department Give a station near to Jog Falls it would be good. People rush into See falls in all seasons.
I am attaching some images From talaguppa Railway station

If this line (Talaguppa Honnavar) comes up the Eastern districts of the state would get a nearer connectivity to the Western districts and also the Mumbai, Panaji and Ahemdabad and to Mangalore, Kochi in the south.
The people of Shimoga and Uttara Kannada districts will benefit from the project. It will ensure easy access to Mumbai for people of Shimoga district while the travel distance to Bangalore will be reduced for the people of Uttara Kannada district.
