in railways is there an option of changing date of a confirmed ticket? or that ticket has to be cancelled and new ticket should be booked?

yes u can change date of travel. perpone and postponement date of journey facility available.
Perpone and Postponement of date of journey can be done only ONCE.
in the website it is written that for new ticket reservation charges are payable. only reservation charges? or previous ticket cancellation charges are also payable?
