This is where you Should dine when at Chennai Central. IRCTC food Central & Food Box, consists of Frankie, Madras Coffee House, Dinidgul Thalapakatti Biriyani, Anjappar, Mr. Chow's, A2B, All Sodas... Man you got the best in the city selling the food here..
I would be surprised if someone says, food is not good at Chennai central. If you don't like food here, you don't like it anywhere else in the city.
Location: Close to the entrance of PF 10.

The other options are in the Pic I posted...But may not be cheap too. The Coffee I that purchased from Madras Coffee House costed me 22 Rs. per cup. Expensive.
BTW.. I didn't see Saravana Bhavan in its place .. There was some construction going on... I didn't really put in interest to findout where its gone...
That area is now flatened. Some construction has started in that area. Saravana bhavan is not there in MAS now
After many years I had to wait at Chennai Central for 2 hrs, decided to have great Saravana Bhavan food and pack for dinner too. To my surprise entire structure was removed. Had 2 cups of famous Madras Filter kapi (Coffee) & frankies, packed two more frankies for dinner too. Thought of having 3rd cup kapi, didn't have time.
Saravana bhavan was one of the most preferred joint for picking up dinners. I have seen lots of passengers travelling by Mangalore, Mail, Alleppey express and other trains departing after 8pm onwards , picking up their dinner from Saravana bhavan
